My buddy was cruisin a gravel road about 30mph today when the motor blew up. Bottom end went out. He has 7 days left on his warranty....Has 68hr and little over a 1000 miles on the machine. The guys probably the smartest mechanic in north missouri and is crazy picky about maintenance to his machine. Just scares me to hear stories like these on a machine that I know hasnt been abused and had all the proper maintenance done. Just hope his warranty cover it.

It should be covered as long as there's no modifications to the RZR that affect performance or the intake. Basically it needs to be stock to be safe. Sure there's dealers who will fight the warranty folks for you but they're few and far between. Especially when something like an engine goes south.
Not sure why it scared you, this is NOT the norm for a RZR engine. Talk to FJK about how tough these things are. He's got somewhere over 17,000 miles on a turbo'd 800 engine.

Hope everything works out well for him.

He didn't use stainless steel screws to mount it did he? Paragraph 6, subsection 3 through 6 under "accessories" on page 37 of the warranty says that the use of stainless steel screws is unacceptable.

He should be fine but if it starts to go the other way, tell him to stand his ground and dont' stop with the guy who trys to tell him otherwise. Keep us posted

I get a sense of sarcasm and distaste for my post because it clearly states who's rzr it is? Just sharing a story about a rzr on a rzr forum? I assure you I meant no harm by it I absolutely love my rzr and also enjoy this forum very much been a huge help to me and many others.

Best way to deal with a dealer that owes you something is to visit the dealer on their buisiest day and time in the sales room. Ask for the manager and start talking real loud about your issue your having with them so others their looking to buy stuff can hear you. Keep going till you get what you want. Whatever you do do not let them take you out of the sales room to discuss it.

Worked for me. Years ago I waited 3 months for rims from SuperShops with multple trips there and phone calls. Went in a Saturday and started telling the hole story to the salesmen and manager, raised my voice so everyone could here me. I was in there for 45 minutes. Told them I would give them one more week and that I would be back next Saturday to pick them up. I had them in 3 days. Pretty sure thery didn't want me back the next Saturday.

He'd tell me if he'd been running the piss out of it I'm not his warranty man he has no reason to lie to me. He had my nephew with him and they were cruisin a gravel road after taking him doe hunting nothing hard on it. He said gave no warning sign, nothing just boom. As far as running it hard. He doesnt run it any harder than the next guy and alot easier on his than many. There is no OTHER side of the story.

Pressure wash it for 3hr until you think it's clean, then pressure wash it again. Disassemble air intake and clean very thoroughly & blow out air filter. Pressure wash again. If they ask, tell them you only use it to ride out to the barn to feed cattle/horses & open/close gates at night, with the occasional trip down to the mail box..... Then hold your breath !!!!

Check the VIN on the Polaris website for any TSB's. One of them is regarding the oil tank. I believe something about part of the casting breaking loose and blocking the oil line, starving the motor of oil.

Mine had to be checked but fortunately was OK.

Polaris didn't contact me about the TSB. I had to search it out myself and alert them.

How did you diagnos that the bottom end (went out)??
I didnt, thats the key he did. I have no idea but I assure you if he says thats what happened thats what happened. Most intelligent person I've ever met and an absolutely gifted mechanic.

Where are all these daily blown engine posts you supposedly read? Think there may be some exaggeration there. Do you really think RZRs would be selling like they do if there were engines blowing the way a couple on this post claim? Hell no. Let's at least keep it honest.

If you are willing to make conclusions based on half (or less) of the information/facts, I have this great bridge for sale here AZ that you should buy.

A friend with a 2012 800 LE had a water pump area leak. He caught it early. Started it to go on a ride and antifreeze gushed out all over the place. All of the bolts were loose. He took it to the dealer and they (Polaris) did a good will repair, just a few weeks out of 6 month warranty.

The dealer told him a porcelain bearing? or bushing? has been a problem. He has ridden his as easy as possible. ZERO ABUSE.

I have 700 miles on my 2013 RZR S LE, zero issues. However, I still feel like I am standing in a large crowd under a 10 story building watching a kid throw bowling balls off the roof and watch different ones take a hard hit, and I keep telling myself, "well that one missed me, I'm still good".
