Greg Roshon:
I heard a rumor from some friends riding there today, that there are postings at some of the trail heads, saying that you have to stay at an approved place, or some such in order to ride at Brimstone? Is there any truth to this, is there a list somewhere? We are coming down at the end of February, has there been some change of ownership? We came down twice last year, please clarify if things have changed since the Side by Side roundup.

Brimestone responses to questions being asked.

Brimstone Recreation :
Brimstone is offering a variety of lodging choices which include owned and non-owned facilities. In an effort to expand our offerings and maximize our guests’ experience at Brimstone, we have created an exclusive resort to enhance every aspect of your stay at Brimstone. Guests choices are limited to the partners on the list which include a wide variety of quality lodging types: cabins, campground facilities, hotels, etc. We are partnering with other facilities that are supportive of Brimstone and that want to partner with Brimstone to build it to be a better place in the future. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this transition. We will be happy to help!

Here is a list of approved lodging: Brimstone Retreats, Grand Vista Hotel, Comfort Inn, Big South Fork, Wilderness Retreats, Cornerstone, Longhorn Ranch, Oneida Guesthouse, Unique Mountain Getaways, Elk Run Cabins---

If you are a local resident you are allowed to ride with a valid band. You are still able to come in and ride and get a visitor's day pass and park in our parking area. Please let us know if you have any other questions! We will be happy to help.

If you check out any resort this is how they operate. Wilderness Resorts in Pigeon Forge would be just one quick example. In order to ride on the Brimtone property, you will need to be staying at a preferred lodging option that is listed above, coming in for a resort visitor day pass, or be a resident. Please let me know if you have any other questions

And the Grand Finale report from Brimestone!

Brimstone Recreation Of all the things that we have to offer here at Brimstone, we have always prided ourselves on our customer service and being 100% about our customers. We have always made every effort to accommodate our riders with whatever they needed since the beginning of Brimstone in March of 2006. “At your service” has always been our policy. We will open early, stay late, order your parts, work on your unit, call you back at 3 a.m., available 24/7, and pull you out of a ditch at any hour, day or night, rain or shine.
With that being said, it should be obvious that our riders are first priority. Any and all decisions that we make here are made with our riders in mind, first and foremost. As a part of our new resort policy, Brimstone is offering a variety of lodging choices which include owned and non-owned facilities. In an effort to expand our offerings and maximize our guests’ experience at Brimstone, we have created an exclusive resort to enhance every aspect of your stay at Brimstone.
We are not controlling our riders and telling them where to stay, we are giving them a choice of many examples of supportive businesses in the area which include a wide variety of quality lodging types: cabins, campground facilities, hotels, etc. We are partnering with other facilities that are supportive of Brimstone and that want to partner with Brimstone to build it to be a better place in the future.
Please trust that this decision was made with great thought and many approaches were considered before we came to our current conclusion about making Brimstone into a resort. We want to make Brimstone the best and ensure that you all will have a place to ride for many years to come.
This is truly the best and most effective way to make this happen. Thank you for your support in this transition. This decision is for our customers to preserve our business for generations to come. We have no choice but to adopt the current policies with those business' that want to support and partner with Brimstone.

Guess I will not be going back to Brimestone. I will be cancelling our group ride in March! Wonoder if they will ever refund my money since they changed the rules after my pass was bought :rollfinger: :rm_thumbdown:

I left this on their FB page and they deleted it within a few minutes.

Brimstone,

Thank you for changing how you do business after your annual pass holder sale has came to an end. I know personally of 8 passes that I helped to encourage people to buy last week only to find out of new rules today.

Although $83 dollars for an annual pass is a lot of money. I have decided that I will not becoming to your facility this year and will discourage the other 8 people that bought passes to do the same.

You do have a nice park there but it is just as easy for all of us to go to Royal Blue, Windrock, Black Mountian, Wilderness Trails Bell County, Wishbone Ranch, or Rush. All of which are with in a 3.5 hr radius of your facility and actually closer to me.

I hope you will rethink your decision on mandating where guests have to stay the night as I have no intentions to spend any more money at your "resort" or in your city until you become more user friendly with your customers.

I asked 3 times if I had a year pass purchased and drive my 5 hrs to get there did they dictate where I could stay . They went all around questions like that and never would comment . I thought trails end was a great place to stay , that being said if I have to stay where somebody tells me then I won't be going back , plenty of other places will take my cash in a heartbeat .

In addition to letting them know how you feel through direct communication, Facebook posts, etc., you can email the local Chamber of Commerce. We all spend a lot of money in that county when we take trips down there. I am sure they would like to know why the local economy will take a hit this year as well as lower tax revenue.

My question is this... I went to royal blue last year and all the trails are maintained by the TN DNR. Are brimstones trails private property? I thought all that land is part of the state land and trails maintained by state. Thus the reason you have to buy the license from the state to ride. All the trails connect from royal blue to wind rock or coal creek whichever is furthest south. So y go to brimstone proper at all just find another trail head and have at it. If I am wrong let me know. I thought I understood how it was set up.

I too have already bought 2 yearly passes for 2013. An of course I always stay at trails end. It's a great place to stay and great people that run it. It has direct trail access from ur cabin or camp. I guess unfortunately for them they own too many properties and such around brimstone that it taking some $ away from brimstone recreation. Even tho if u stay at trails end u still hafta buy riding passes from brimstone rec. it looks to me like everyone is getting something out of it as it should be. But now brimstone rec. is saying trails end doesn't support them. I don't see how that possible. But I do hear brimstone is adding more camping, cabins, and Gona become a resort. Sounds like to me brimstone rec. is trying to have a monopoly on everything around it. Just trying to have trails end go under and suddenly look at the surrounding land that becomes available. I will still stay at trails end and ride twra trails several times a year.

They will be at Dealer Expo next week. Close vicinity to Warn, Outerwares, Superwinch, HMF. Be a good chance for somebody to ax them. They had at least (6) people in the booth last year.

That trip is on our list in the near future, how could it not be be right? Guess I need to get up to speed and like everything else figure out the routine before going.

We have a big multi forum ride planned for Brimstone in March. My reservations are at Trails End Campground. I had stayed at Brimstone Resort property cabins twice last year and held an annual permit. If anybody has experienced driving up to the highway...standing in line.....trying to get a permit....burning a minimal of an hour that should have been riding...or waiting for one person in the group to do this.....Now, if I read this right, every person in the group will need to go up and do this every morning for a parking permit, then park in designated area.....forget it....going elsewhere. Just glad that I had not purchased my annual.

Note: some of us plan on riding 12 to 16 hrs a day.....not stand in line half of it.....the exclusive resort with valet parking does not work for my crew.

ive never been to brimstone but after reading that and hearing you guys talk i dont think i want to go. They said they are not trying to tell you where you can stay, but they are just telling you where you can NOT stay. From reading the posts it seems like they are wanting some money from local accommodations. Thats only a good business plan if it works. Doesn't sound like its going to though.
