I just found out that one of my valves on both cylinders bent from water coming in through my breather line on the gas tank. The best advice i can give to everyone here is if you plan on going through any water move all your breather lines to the top of your rollcage. The other thing is dont trust them clamps on the lines from the factory either cuz they are junk! Get some good hose clamps that you have to tighten with a screwdriver, maybe even be cautious and put some silicone around the end of the hose to ensure no water can get in there. This is bs that i have to get this motor pretty much rebuilt cuz polaris couldnt put the breather lines up far enough. Hope no one has to go through this with only 600 miles on there machine like i have to.

Yeah thats one serious issue that I brought up in my build thread about the vent lines...Not only did I replace them all, But they are also attached using high heat Silicone and hose clamps....If your serious about the water.. Take no chances..Even if your just out skipping... It doesnt take much to ruin your day...And if your Like me and hit the deep stuff 12+ miles away from the nearest sole in Alaska with only a P99 as your friend....Just count on a 3 hour walk back...2 hours and 28 minutes if it getting late..speaking from experiance!!:)

I find it hard to believe that the water got in through the gas tank vent line.

If it did, all it would do is water down the gas and run like crap or stall.

I would be looking for another source of water entry. Did you shut it off while submerged and water got in through the exhaust maybe?

X2 you absolutely right, with water in gas will run bad , if at all. IMHO

It was not through your vent line, most likely exhaust or intake . REMINDER to people .SNORKEL if you go in water , PERIOD . Water level is level , the ground below is not ...lol . Also your intake SUCKS air so any splashing ,steam etc is gonna go into the motor, your clutch does the same. Thinking if i ONLY go up to this hieght i will be o kay is just is too big of a gamble to me , IMO......

This is not Polaris`s fault ,it clearly states in the operator`s manual that deepwater can harm youe engine, that is why people snorkel there rzr`s......

Hmmm, as others have said, water in gas tank is not your problem.
Actually, Hydro-locking an engine (getting water in the combustion chamber) will not bend valves at all.

Hydro-locking will bend rods or shatter pistons.

Can't bend a closed valve unless something solid hits it.When the valve is open then it is vulnerable to bending. Water would just go right out the port when the valve is open.

Think about it. Water on top of the piston on the compression stroke will try to compress. Since the valves are closed on comp stroke no where for water to go. So the reason bulldozers work is water/liquids are more or less not compressible, hydraulics. So, something has got to give. Usually the rod bends, or breaks. Or piston shatters. Either way very bad news.

A massive over rev, or debris getting sucked or dropped into the motor could bend a valve.

I am not convinced you have bent valves. From what you said it would be impossible.
Who said your valves are bent, and what else is damaged ?

look on the line that runs from your breather and you pvc vaulve on top of your head and you will find a 1 inch cut in that line from the factory and nobody knows why it is there!!!???!! you need to cut and splice that part of the line and if i had to bet that is where you got water on you vaulves..... hate to hear abot your motor

The slice is there to relieve crank case pressure in case there is ever a blockage on the filter end of the hose. IMO it sure would take a lot of dirt and/or moisture to block/freeze that hose solid though.

I wouldn't say "nobody knows why"...actually I would safely say that 90% of mudders out there or people who are serious about running deep and have a snorkel know all about that...and weep holes ect..

And TJT-Rav is correct, it's not even an opinion its the correct answer!
Saves people like me in the winter when your out plowing in -25 to -50 degree weather.. With my vehicle getting pulled in and out of a heated garage it's just that much more to worry about.. I make sure that even though I have replaced all hoses and vent lines that I put the stock one back on with that slit in it just in case... Will it ever do it's job?? I hopefully won't know.. Is there any other reason.. IDK, but if it freezes its just another monkey wrench thrown in there..

X3 on the actual reason..water in the fuel tank vent line wouldn't cause that.. Do you have any info that made you think it was that one that caused it?

I hope you get everything fixed and keep us up to date..I'm curious..
