Bent frame/chassis questions

I had noticed awhile back when riding on pavement that my alignment was off. The last time I went riding, one of the people behind me said something didn't look right. I had him get into my Rzr and I followed behind to get a look. Sure enough, it looked like a car you see driving down the highway with a bent frame. I used some string to take some measurements and I could see how bad it was, it's over a inch off. The drivers side rear is toe out and the passenger rear in toe in. When looking at it from behind with the front wheels straight, the drivers rear wheel is out too far and the passenger rear is too far in. When I inspected the frame, I did see two welds that look cracked on the plate that is under the engine. Everything else looks fine as far as I can tell.
My first question is, has anyone else tweaked their frame in this area? Did the insurance company total it out? If they totaled it, how much was the buy back? If they ended up just replacing the frame, how much was the repair bill?

Check you trailing arms. Get a straight 8' 2X4 set it flush against your rear tire (rear of rear tire to front of rear tire) pointing towards the front tire, you will be able to see how far off it is. I had to replace my passenger rear trailing arm, it was toed way in. You could notice it by standing back a ways. If you ask me, I don't think they half of them come true from the factory.

Good luck

I have bent a couple as well. The above mentioned system for checking rear wheel alignment works great. I also do the same thing for the front tires with the steering wheel centered to get everything lined up.

Thanks for the help guys. I've actually already done the 2x4 test but I'm going to do it again to be sure. I've also taken the 2x4 and put it under the frame and one side is definitely higher the other. The two cracked welds are also a problem. I'm going to ride it as is, I've got a ride planned for the 24th. When I get in, im going to let the dealer take a look at it.

I had a high speed roll over on my 900 2 seat. Frame looked tweaked so we started stripping down and measuring. Besides broken axle and steering box, the 1" tweak in the frame was a bent sway bar. unhook the sway bar before anything else

I know this is the xp1000 thread. But I bent my frame on my xp900. Amazingly enough, Polaris/Rpm warranty is covering it 100%. Shocks me to be honest. I brought it in with bent a-arms from hitting a hole just right. Come to find out it was a common issue of the frames ovalaing out on the 900's. Maybe give your dealer a shot and see if you had the luck I did.
