I put 75 miles on mine yesterday with no issues. i asked my dealer about it because I have seen posts on here about issues. I was told it is bad belt alignment and if the dealers don't check it before you get it then you may have problems. If you broke a belt I would have the dealer check the alignment. belts should last for 1500 to 2000 miles if everything is correct. That is unless you are doing things that ruin belts(low speed up hills in high range) things like that

Looking at the manual you can align the clutch. When you bolt the transmission and engine together there is a clutch centering tool needed to align.

275 miles, 3 belts. Not fun to change when you are at a 45% angle at night in the dunes, and about to roll down the hill. had to tell my wife to get out of the car and run away from it. So far, it's cost me approx. $500 per weekend just for belts. Not good. Polaris needs to fix this problem, not blame everything on how you drive, what mods you have and every other excuse in the book. SCORE has a 3000 class and they are BELT DRIVE and do not have this problem. Looking for a new car due to the reliability problem!! Hate to take a bath finantially, but i can't trust this one!

My rzr 1000 4 seater blow 3 belts this weekend in glamis. Only has 4 hours and 37 miles on it. Was stuck in way deep in the dunes and was a mission trying to get it pulled back to camp. Went to vendors in glamis and they were sold out on the 40 belts that they had. So ended up going to imperial valley motorsports in el centro to pick up 2 belts for $450 and they said they been selling belts like crazy 30+. Ended up blowing those 2 belts i bought and i was babying the throttle. Called the dealer where i bought the rzr and they said to bring it in so they can diagnostic it. I hope this problem gets fixed cause i sure don't want to be spending $500 bucks everytime i want to take it out especially get stranded in the dunes.

I believe I have made a discovery about this issue. But Maybe not haha

After reading about these belt problems I went out and looked over my xp4 1000. 100 miles and no problems however I haven't run in glamis yet only ocotillo. Stock tires.

Anyway I took off the cvt intake cover (located on driver side). Looked at the inside of the cover and there is a plastic sheeting that covers the grate holes preventing air from passing thru to the belt/clutches. This appears to be the way fresh air flows through to the belt housing. Could be a reason the belts are heating up. Why would polaris put that plastic sheet over the holes? Is this something the dealer missed when the unit was commissioned? Everybody check your cars to see if you have the same issue.

I will be removing that plastic sheeting before my next trip. I'll be back with the results.

I blew my belt up at 323 miles. I was picking my son up from school, Driving on pavement. I had been driving my rzr for about 5 minutes. Stopped at stop sign accelerated 0-60, Slowed down to 45 and then it blew. I just sold a rzr xp 900 that I put 3500 miles on before i changed the belt. And i kept it as a back up. I was at the dunes 2 weeks ago and this was the first time I've drivin it since getting back. Alot of people are saying it's driving error. I've had 4 rangers since 2007 and never blown a belt. And I drive the hell out of them. My rzr 900 had 4000 miles.

Had my XP41K in the dunes last weekend, put about 60 miles in the sand. I have paddle tires. Kept the pedal off the floor up hill, but I could smell burning belt if I got on the throttle up a steep hill. I didn't charge Olds at full throttle, just took it easy in high gear, 4WD and made it to the top on the left side. Smelled belt. Going to pull the cover tonight and see how the belt looks. I was nervous being out there, but I figured if I kept the throttle at less than 80% I'd be ok. When I had my RZR800-4 in the dunes I was wide open 100% of the time. Probably had 200+ miles in the sand with never a problem or a burned belt smell.

Well I burned up one belt this weekend in glamis. The temp hit 217 degrees on the gauge and I lost a belt. Had stock tires on. Switched over to paddles and watched the temps closely. If it hit 205 degrees I took a break and let it cool down(this happened a couple times during the day in the big dunes). Didn't blow anymore belts and the paddles really made an improvement as to how hard the machine was working. Definitely a heat issue with the 1000 xp4. I hope the solution is cheap and easy other wise I won't be going back to the dunes with it.

I wonder what sitting at idle is doing to the belts. I was on a trail with a big group and there was a lot of wait time before climbing out of something that I sat and idled.

After replacing my blow belt and running the car without the cover to take a look at idle it was grabbing the belt every once and a while instead of just free wheeling. If you sit long enough I could see an issue with it heating up.

I went through two belts Thanksgiving weekend in Glamis. Had to park it,belts got too expensive.
I called Polaris Coporate and they opened a case for my busted belts. They need more people to call and voice their opinion about the belt problem or they're not going to do anything. CALL (888) 704-5290 Polaris Corporate Office.
I also contacted a lemon law attorney he just finished suing VW for there CVT Transmission, the same type as in the 1000.
They will fix if they know we're pissed.
$28G's sitting in my garage.
And now I'm visiting the in-laws for Christmas and New Year's. FmyL(F*ckMyLife)
