Ok. So got off work. Started razor let it run about 7-10 min. Then got in. Backed out the garage. Started down the dirt road doing some spirited driving. And all of a sudden BAM.

Belt has maybe 20 hours on it. I'm infor sure why it snapped.

some of the rubber on the sheaves could be from the last belt? you need to scuff all that off and clean it up good i see alot of belt cord in both clutches
Paul and John both have you heading in the right direction.
I would pull both clutches and give them a good inspection and cleaning.

Ok guys thanks for the input.

Dealer replaced belt about 2 months ago. So in pretty sure they used stock belt.

I don't think alighnment is an issue. I will have to read up on how to check it out.

And I will also check the air passage ways.

I try to not climb anything in high. I got stuck pretty bad one time and was in 4wd and the belt smoked just a little. As soon as I realized it I stopped. That has been a while though. Maybe a few weeks. Thanks again guys

Flintsrt, you mentioned letting your machine run for a few minutes to warm up so I'm assuming that it's pretty cold where you live. Be aware that the belt is not "warming up" with your machine idling. You need to get the revs up in neutral or park to have the primary engage the belt and start it (and the transmission) spinning. 15 seconds of above-idle running followed by a couple of minutes of low-stress driving should get the belt flexing and warm. A stone-cold and lumpy belt may have been part of your problem.

Belt blew from heat. Rubber on the secondary is from belt blowing. Rubber wouldn't get over the top of the sheaves unless belt broke. Slipping the belt in mud didnt help anything at all, gave belt a weak spot.

These rzrs build alt of heat in the clutches. Inefficient clutching from polaris. Either get a clutch kit from someone, or experiment with it.

You can "warm up" your belt if it makes you feel better, but by the time your engine is warm enough to beat on, your belt is too. I've never warmed up my snowmobile belt in any weather, let alone in -20f. By the time my 200hp engine is ready to get flogged, the belt is too. Btw never blown a belt and the belt is $60 for the sled.

One more thing, taking off easy, low throttle barely creeping, is bad for the belt. It slips the belt. If you are going to drive it, put you foot into the throttle and get it rolling, don't pussyfoot it.

Lol that's exactly what I was telling my wife!! She likes to put it in high an creap around. Lol. I have told her so many times.
There is your answer as to why the belt failed. Teach her to use Low. Seems our wife's have a hard time understanding this concept. Mine got stuck over a down tree and just hammered it in High. I'm yelling LOW, LOW and smelling hot rubber. She finally heard and did use Low and walked right over the tree. Came home and replaced the belt. Take your dear wife by the loving hand and do a show and tell with her as to why we use low under 10 mph. Any belt will fail under the same use.

Lol. I told her and she said "so it's all my fault". Lol. Oh boy. Lol. They don't understand.

Ok guys. Got it all
Back together. Thanks for your help. I bought EPI's sport clutch kit and there heavy duty belt. I also installed snorkels. Lol. But thanks guys.

One question. At an idle. The main clutch is spinning with the crank. But the secondary is also spinning. Is that normal?

PITA to install -- This is the 1st clue that there is 1 issue with this belt. Belt measurement is the 2nd issue. I've not touched on belt composition and I'll leave that alone.

Yes -- Order the belt I specified for your '08 RzR and you won't have an issue.

Before installing any CVT belt -- Prep it properly along with both clutches. Failure to do this - - Especially with your snorkles -- You run the risk of another belt failure.

Personally I don't like snorkles -- But if one must .. .. Run a blower to pressurize the CVT cavity. Run the blower from the time the engine is started to 5 minutes after engine shutdown to ensure one doesn't boil the oils out of the rubber composition of the belt.

As to where to buy the belt -- I use Ebay. And make absolutely sure the auction is for the 3211130 belt and none other. If you get one from your local dealer - -Same thing .... Only except the '1130 belt -- Otherwise you'l have the same issue as you have now -- That of grinding when selecting a gear because of the secondary spinning.

As to why EPI sells a belt/kit for the RzR and it's flawed -- I'll leave that alone and just say don't run their belt/kit unless one is fully versed in properly setting the clutches up for their kit. It can be used -- Few people know how to properly install.

Good Luck .. .. :)

Ok. I lot of information here.

I have yet to ride since the new belt was put on. I have read to put a few miles on it and check it again. I also have the supplied shim installed from epi. If it continues. Or grinds when trying to put into gear. Then I will remove it.

I am defenatly going to buy another belt though.
