Lets see how far back you got into off road. I started in 1967 on a 1965 Honda 50. No, not the step through, but the model that had the gas tank where it belonged, between the knees. I was riding that thing at the track (Castaic, CA) where the European motocross riders (Torsten Hallman, Roger DeCoster, Joel Robert, etc) came over in 67 and laid waste to our American riders. I rode that Honda on the same race track because I lived just down the road. Oh I eventually graduated to much more capable machines and lots of different types of off road stuff, but that little Honda was the beginning, and 45 years later I'm still offroading with my 570. What a great life!

My first step in a very long line of OHV's was a 1970 Harley (Italian-made) 125 cc "dual sport". I found out that the frame wasn't very strong by jumping it and bending the frame upon landing. That made the wheelbase a few inches longer!

I'll chime in although it looks like you all have a few years on me in age lol.

Started out in 1992 when I was 4 on a 1984 Honda 50 dirt bike (one like the OP described). Eventually up to a Honda XR 80. Then to my old trusty Honda fourtrax 300 4x4. I drowned her and bent the crank. Sold that ATV in college and always told myself after college when I could afford it, I would have a RZR. Now I graduated in May 2012, and bought my 2013 800 EPS Blue Fire June 2013.

CHEERS!

I started in 1964 on a Honda Trail 55 then moved up to a Honda SL90 then a Kawasaki Bushwacker then a Big Horn, then a XR500, XR600, KTM 300EXC, KX500, KLX300, and now back down to a KDX200. Many other bikes the kids and wife had in those years too. Getting too old and fragile to ride like I used to do on bikes so the RZR suites me just fine.

I bought my first dirt bike in 1972 at 12 years of age, and within a few years moved into desert racing. I moved my way up to the open class, and at one time earned a number one plate and a factory support ride from Honda. I've continued to desert race up until just a few years ago.

I bought my first Jeep at 14 years of age, and have owned a Jeep ever since. My current Jeep has a 500 hp 6.4 Hemi under the hood. Over the years I've been a trail leader at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab for 13 years, I've competed in Four Wheeler Magazine's Top Truck Challenge, and have had several vehicles featured in magazines

I bought my first ATV in 1999, and have owned several since then. Our whole family is into ATVing.

And in 2006 I bought my first side by side.

I would say it was 1980 or 1981 and I to started on a Honda Z 50 that had the gas tank where it should. it must have been a 60's model. a few years on that then I went on to a 1980 Honda xl80. I then went to 2 four wheelers. took a break for a few years then got back into the s x s thing with a gator. I had to go faster so I bought a xp 4 900 for the family (hehe). But since 1981, I've always had a snowmobile. My dad got me started young. we always rode offtrail in the bush.

It is interesting most folks started on a motorcycle. Of course back in my day there were no quads. Dune buggies were just becoming popular and most jeeps you saw were military surplus and mini-bikes were homemade using lawn mower engines I think it was the 70s when the options exploded with tons of new toys being marketed for dirt riding. We have come a long way in 45 years!

Had dirt bikes and 4wheelers when I was a kid. Went about 15 years with no off-road vehicle. Bought a cabin a couple of years ago, saw all the trails, thought 4-wheelers would be fun. Discovered that there are actually off-road parks... who knew?!!
Took me 14 years of marriage to find something the whole family likes to do together.

Then many of the guys I ride with (and potential riding buddies) were all going the SxS route. So we sold 2 of the wheelers and bought a RZR a couple of weeks ago.

I started with a '72 Jeep CJ-5 in high school, and then went to a Honda 250.

Always have owned a true 4 x 4 (not a crossover or big SUV). Ford Bronco II (totaled), Ford Expolder (terrible transmission), Jeep Grand Cherokee (lemon), 2004 VW Touareg V8 (amazing engineering), and now a 2006 Touareg V10 TDI Diesel (German engineering excellence), and a 2008 RZR which I am getting close to getting over, and buying a new RZR S LE.

1986 Quadsport for me, then 1987, Honda 250R and raced Motorcross and early 90's raced a Suzuki LT250 with a Klemm Research totally built motor and ran the expert class. They claimed it had the same power to weight ratio as a Funny Car but I will tell you it wanted to rip the grips right out of my hands upon full acceleration. Once my body started telling me no, I went to Karting on 1/8 and 1/4 dirt ovals. Something about 70mph and an inch off the ground while inches away from up to 20 other karts was a thrill for sure. Many street bikes after that and now back in the dirt with an RZR XP.

I started on the same Honda 50. I believe it was a 1970 and the handle bars would fold down when you turned the black knobs. it was red white and blue.

I started out on mini-bikes and go-carts with briggs & Stratton motors when I was 5-6 old, rode a Tote-goat for awhile, then some type of 50cc bike. Moved to Idaho when I was 8, and traded the 50 for an 80. Had a Hodaka Ace 100 and a Dirt Squirt for awhile before moving up to 125's. Rode several RM's and CR's from 125-500cc, had a YZ465 and IT490. First ATV was a Suzuki 230 Quadsport, then a couple Honda's TRX250R & TRX250X. In 2001 I bought my first Polaris ATV, 250 Xplorer and I still have it. Also have a 94 Sportsman 400 (400 L). Went through a few other Polaris ATV's (07 800), (08 800), (09 850) before buying my first RZR in 2010.

Man your making me feel crusty!! Started at 6 in 68' riding minbikes at the neighbors back yard track. Scrub brake broke off, went right into the back of my ankle and severed by Achilles tendon. Two month with foot elevated above heart, Doc told my parents I may never have use of that leg again (proved them wrong). Learned how to shift on my bro's Honda 90. Dad took a trade for a 69 Yamaha 125 Enduro, Guy had it on a rack on the back of his MOHO and it got tagged and bent the frame. I could flat track the heck out of that thing, (Lefts only). You try to go right and the thing would high side and pitch you off every time, LOL. Best bike in my youth was a XR75, and at 18 was my KDX250. Stepped into Quads in 85',
(3)LT230's, 250 Quadracer, 500 Quadzillla. Then had kids so (2)LT80's, (2) LT400, and currently 700 Raptor & YFZ450. Beyond that... (2) Jeeps, (2) Ram Chargers, (3) Sand Buggies, (1) Baja Bug, And a Desert Dynamics LS-1 powered dual purpose car. Got into SXS's with a 06' Rhino which we raced in the SXS national series, and now am loving the Polaris XP900. Sure I missed a few. Tons of Desert time, but my passion for the past 25 years have been the Dunes, (did Thanksgiving 18 years in a row at Dumont dunes). Also have been fortunate enough to visit a few others...Glamis several times, Pismo, Corral Pink, St. Anthony's, and Oregon.
My Wife and co-pilot of 28 years knows all of my girl friends and right where to find them, (In my garage) LOl.
