I have an 09 800s and when i go to start it it turns over quite long before starting and lets out a backfire mostly when it’s warm.New fuel pump and plugs already installed.Would sure appreciate any ideas.

Some backfires are caused by too lean of a condition. Usually this is the fuel pump but you stated you replace it. Have you since tested that it maintains pressure? The other thing to check for is leaks around the throttle body, head gasket, or exhaust manifold. What do the plugs look like? Are they white? Are they wet?

I check and adjust mine on the machine. I just tapped into the two wires (it has 3, I can't remember which colors you need, but there's threads about it on here) with pigtails ending in a butt splice. My volt meter has simple prong ends on the leads, and I slide those in the other end of the butt splice and lightly crimp to hold in place. Makes it pretty easy so you can adjust if needed while watching the voltage. I can't remember the correct voltage either but .739 at idle rings a bell. Idle being 1150-1200.
