With the front diff, the problem is that that the ringed groove at the end of the axle gets corroded full of rust, dirt and debris; and then the clip that holds the axle in cannot compress down into the groove allowing the axle to pull out.
Using Penetrating oils such as PB Blaster to creep in there to help dissolve the corrosion and to flush out the groove will be your best friend.
Soak with penetrating oil, tapping in and slamming out ( over and over again ) with slide hammer with straight pulls while continually ROTATING back and forth (the secrete in getting that ring clip to fall in the right place and aids in flushing out the groove) the CV cup will come out for you 99% of the time.
Ive pulled so many stuck axles it’s pathetic. Not just mine but friends and fellow riders that sometimes come knocking on my door for my help with their stuck axles .
Sometimes, ( that 1% of the time) the ring clip will get jammed between the axle splines and spline grooves and when you finally get the axle out you will know if that was the case because the ring clip will be broken.
I welded up a conduit clamp to attach to my slide hammer for axle pulling - it has never failed me. Good luck !
