As I make modifications fo my new 2012 XP always in the back of my mind is how my modifications will affect my warranty coverage. Does anyone truely know what affects what? Looks like in the wrong situations your warranty claim can be denied for just about any reason. I recently had an axle bend and there is no signs of it coming into contact with anything. Its a well known common problem on the xp's . My problem is I'm pretty sure, although I haven't tried yet, that my claim could or will be denied as I have 14" wheels with 28" swamplites. Now in alot of cases when you install really heavy very agressive tires you pretty much know the axles wont hold up but mine weigh close to the same as the stock tire setup. Not a big deal as I figure even if they denied a claim on the axle they would just screw up again anyway so probably gonna change them out for better BUT and the whole purpose of this thread . If I change out the axles and then have an issue with something else say such as the diff will they deny a claim on that because I went with a better axle? Has anyone had a claim denied because of replacing the axles?
If you have auxillary wireing would a claim on your stator be denied etc? See where I'm headed with this. Pretty much if I ever have a catastrophic failure of some kind ie engine failure, transmission etc. You can bet mine will be back to as close as factory stock as possible. Obviously I cant undo the custom cage, seats belts etc. One thing for sure it will be clean enough to eat off of inside and out. What have you had a claim denied for and why? Factory warranty or other? I am one that believes if I do something that I caused the failure then I will suffer the consequinces myself but on the other hand if I have an issue unrelated to anything I have done or modified I expect it to be handled in a timely matter without alot of hassle. I never had a single problem with my 2011s in over 2000 miles so I never had to deal with a dealership for a claim. I know alot has to do with your relationship with your dealer and I'm also sure there are thousands of warranty bclaims that are handled withoput issue that we never hear about but there seems to be alot of questionable denials . I don't go running to the dealer for little things mainly just because its quicker and simpler to just do it myself instead of leaving it at the dealer waiting for them to get around to it. Bigger things are another story. I have seen several instances where it has taken weeks /months to resolve and alot of times it ends in a denial. Again I'm sure if you factor in the amout of claims that are handled we only see a small fraction of them but are we seeing only a few of the denials as well? Do you feel your machine is protected by the warranty or just one step away from an excuse not to cover it ?
