I am a happy owner of a RZR S, some have suggested it will be only a matter of time before I get a sandrail. Anyone own both? Pros and cons?

Thanks

I have had a sand rail for years and now I also have a RZRS.
My sand rail is way faster and smoother riding in the dunes.
My RZRS will go places I wouldn't think og going in my sand rail and it rides better on the trails.
I like them both, but use the RZR more now, I just can't seem to part with the old girl that I have had for about 17 years.

I just sold my Tatum Motorsports Car :rm_thumbdown:, my friends like it better when I dune with my RZR so they can keep up, Now they are not happy with me again, because my RZR is faster then their Turbo Charged V-6 Ford Mid-Travel Rail :rofl3:-- Oh Well, The view is much better out front!!

I have a rzr and a Predator X18 car. 1st trip with the car was Halloween. Rode the rzr the first 5 days then the car the next 5 days. Hate to say it, but the rzr is now the backup. In my words they are night and day. Rzr is now for the mountains and the car for the dunes....................

Its an awesome dual sport car. Desert/Dunes, reliable can't say enough good about them. And they do not cost much more than a rzr and have much more power and seem alot safer due to their wide stance and travel........

Rzr- $14,000, LT- $6,000, Turbo- $4,000 = $24,000.
Predator X18s- $25,000.

Predator 20" travel front, 18" travel rear. 180hp stock...........

Don't get me wrong. I like the Rzr and do not plan on dumping it, got too damn much money tied up in it. But the two definately have different riding features which suit my type of riding.

I sold my weber rzr and built a pre runner / dune buggy. The funny part is that the biggest reason people sell is cost. I have put more miles and spend not even a quarter in repairs as I did on the rzr. Fact is rzr is an awesome machine but for glamis, ocotillo, socal riding spots I dont think there is a substitution for a real car. However the girl has a rzr 4 and it is great for trail riding and out for a day trip with everyone. Not hating on the rzr but I think they each have different purposes. But to say tranny this and motor that is stupid. I think in glamis there is a lot of abusive riding and not a lot of preventative maintenance. Those two dont work well together. I think with high maintenance and the use of proper oils and fluids anything can last a long time. At least that has been my experience.

i've been thinking about getting the Predator since now you can get a turbo for it. from what i read it's not much bigger than a sxs with 4x the power. btw where did you pick ur Predator x18 from?[/QUOTE]

I bought mine from a guy that was upgrading to a X18s. They are hard to find used. Watch the adds on glamisdunes.com or talk with Eamon at Predator. They have a used red one that is fully equipped for racing now for sale.

Man, those are pretty interesting rides, it's like the offspring of a UTV and a sandrail.

LoL I've asked this a few times. If I lived out west I'd LOVE to have a X18. It seems most people try to turn a RZR into a something like it. Just with a weaker frame, Less travel, less power, ect ect lol
I guess its a lot like RZR-S vs RZR. If you have the room the wider car with more travel is much better..

Go over to Glamisdunes.com and introduce yourself and also research past threads and most of all ride in some different cars before you build or buy anything. Lots of variables as far as type of duning you want to dune, what fuel you want to use, etc, etc. For me the RZR does not even come close to the buggy or dirt bike but still has its place for fun.

after owning 2 there are a few "can't live withouts" in my opinion.
1. power steering, not in my 1st car, tatum sand demon, had it in my second car.
2. front brakes, again not in my first car, had it in my second AG sandcar
3. get the most expensive transaxle you can afford (stay away from v8/2d combos)
4. some type of bypass shocks, at least in the rear, best all 4 corners.

there are a lot of deals, and you can get a pretty kick-butt rail for under 30k, just sold this 2 months ago for 32k.
