going to make a trip in oct was looking for the best place to ride were to stay any help would be great thanks

there is riding everywhere around vail.....what would you like? Vail Pass is a good place to start.....Vail Pass Rest Area.

have been looking do you know about how many miles of trails and do we need permints or some kind of a pass were going to try to make it the 8,9,10,

no Permits or Passes, just have fun.

Wrong. You need a OHV permit. Check it out here.

Get this guide book. It is great for mapping all the trails around Vail. See area 4. Recommended trails are Shrine and Ptarmigan passes, Wearyman creek and McCallister gulch, Lime Creek and Benson Cabin. Here is the link.

october is an iffy month. often the kids gotta wear winter jackets as part of their halloween costume, yet other years it is really nice.

if it does snow it shouldnt be much or last very long

Yeap! permit needed if on US National Forest Service ground.

Plus, a good suggestion on the book and maybe pick up a Colorado Gazatteer when you get in state. and a highlighter to keep track.
