I've been doing a lot more heavy trail riding lately and really feel like I'm going to have to lift my 09 standard rzr. I seem to be bottoming out on a fair number of stumps the timber company leaves after they do a select cut and I'm not sure how much the stock skid plate is going to take. I've been reading many of the threads on here about lifts and I guess I didn't see the specific questions I had answered on the topic. I like the looks of EMP's two inch lift. They appear easy to put on and the two emp products I've recently purchased (the cargo cover and front bumper) have really impressed me. My questions are 1) Has anyone heard of this particular lift causing the problems to axles or cv joints that some folks have had with others? 2) As I would like to keep the width of the vehicle as close to stock as possible, if I do this lift, should I get spacers as well (I run stock tires and wheels) and if so what size?

I had all the same questions and researched the hell outta this site for the answers.

This is what I came up with in a nut shell.

For your type of riding and mine the 2 inch from EMP will work fine and you wont have any problems with cv joint bind unless you jump the machine or you are airborne alot.

I installed mine last week and they are very easy to install and the fit is excellent.

I didnt use spacers and it seemed that they were not required.

However I think you should get EMP's UHMW full skids especially if your rubbing stumps.

Hey Devil, thanks for that information. Did you feel that since you were higher your center of balance was different making you more likely to tip. I don't get airborne much so that's not a concern. I've been thinking about a skid, but don't want to add much weight to the machine. Do you have the EMP skids? Easy install? Heavy?
Thanks

I've had the EMP lift since spring on my standard 2010. Love it! I had to get 1.5" spacers to clear the motor mount with my stock rims and tires. The lift brings in the width about an inch to 49" and will rub the mount w/stock rims. It puts me at 52" with stock rims and tires. I've got 4:3 offset rims too with the same size 25" tires and they don't rub anywhere. By skids, you'll need them even with the lift. The stock one is pretty weak. It will not hold up to a stump strike very well trust me. I too have many parts from EMP - great products/company!

The skids from EMP were easy to install as well as all the other parts such as CVjoint protectors, gas tank protector,2 inch lift.

The UHMW skid is not heavy at all but on install I think it helped that it was a hot day and the plastic was more manageable.

Hey Ridgerunner when did ya notice rubbing when you were just putting around or on the trails?

Cuz I got stock wheels and tires and got no rub yet.

Tire hit the motor mount when I tried to remount it on the hub. Not a lot but enough that I put the spacers on. I've gone nearly everywhere (98%) my quad buddies go, width wise at 52". If I don't fit between the trees I make my own path using the EMP Extreme bumper!

Does anyone know if this lift will work on a 2011? Their website says 2008-2010, but someone said that all 2010 lifts will fit 2011? Maybe EMP could respond as well?

Why would you want a lift that could bind up at all even if you dont jump much? I dont jump mine but I see one or two tires off the ground quite a bit. The type of "push up" lifts which actually make the width smaller I thought caused CV issues at full expansion. Spacers are the band-aid but doesnt solve the problem. I would hate to see an expensive repair because of a mod.

Not really trying to be argumentive but more devil's advocate.

PS The worst spot I ever saw CV bind before I installed a lift was full expansion, in 4wd, with the wheel turned to its locks. After I installed mine, it stopped happening.

The Racertech 2in lift kit is the way to go if you want fit, finish and the absolute BEST reputation in the industry.

Search Racertech Lift or go here: Racertech Lift, to learn more about it. Just click on the kit that fits your vehicle and read the product description.
That's the lift I have installed and it has functioned flawlessly.

I doubt your honestly going to find anything "better" than what RacerTech has built..If you have read my prior threads as to why (and I get really specific) you would understand..the way around RacerTech..Are say..Custom High Lift kits, SuperATV just finished refining a 6-8 incher.RacerTech isnt getting into that market...so there you go..you've had only what 14 replys and most say RacerTech..That itself says something..and as an owner of 2 previous lifts, I can give an unbiased opinion...Good luck!

Sorry, stupid question on the racertech lift: Is the more expensive 2" lift that mounts to the top of the shocks or the less expensive one that just raises the shocks form the bottom? Thanks! Looking to add a 2" to mine asap but I do a lot of jumping too so I dont want the chance of binding with the emp as mentioned earlier.

I agree on the racertech very nice fit and finish and I've only had it on one ride but it seems to be very durable also. Ive seen a lot of other lifts and I'd have to say this one is the best
