Additional switches in the dash

What are you guys doing to add more rocker switches in the dash in your 900s?

I used up the two extra spaces Polaris granted us on the right side but need a couple more

Looks like I can cut one more in on the left side next to the headlight switch but thats about it. The other side doesn't have the room as there is that push in mount in the back in the way. Looks like Polaris offset the switches further out from the speedo on the right so no room to add another switch over there

Are people using the .50 caliber 6 or 8 switch place aluminum plates or the cheaper powder coated steel 6 place dash pieces? Maybe putting them in the other dash board panels?

If using these aftermarket plates I assume your cutting out a section of the dash. Do those push in mounts get affected in any way?

If an aftermarket plate is the solution, I want it to be a nice clean look and yet securely mounted

Any suggestions and pictures would help. Thanks!

Thats what I was thinking. I have no problem cutting the switches in. The only thing I have to look into in that area is there is now one of two amps mounted right there. Not sure when I put that dash piece back on I would have the proper clearance for the wires coming off those new switches

I have been using switch panels from Outdoor Logic. I put two switches to the left of the wheel like Dro727RZR. They really firm up the dash and make a solid point for the switches to mount into. When I got my dash for my Interactive display it came with 3 cutouts on each side of the display. I think my old dash had two on each side.

I took a little different approach. Used the additional 2 cutouts on right of guage, relocated the key switch and power outlet and replaced with switches, and added a switch to either side of the storage box. Still may add 2 to the left of the steering, but not much room behind the panel for wire connector blocks so will have to use female spades. Thought I had a pic available but can't seem to find it. will add a pic this wknd.

So now Im starting to learn about switches. I realize now that I want 4 pin switches. I personally like to run constant power to my accessories. I don't want to have to use the ignition key to have to power anything on. But I also like switches that will illuminate when the key is on for at night when I want to look down and see which switch does what. Then when I hit the switch it powers up that accessory and lights up the top half of that switch.

I bought a switch recently with 3 pins which to my understanding will only light up when flipped on. So for me, acc power to illuminate the switch for night, but constant power to the switch as well for that accessory even if vehicle switch is off

I want to run the stereo but don't need the vehicle also draining power...

Make sense right?

Hey Gary,

There are, as they say, many ways to skin a cat.

The standard Carling 2 led rocker that comes with some Polaris accessories and harnesses is a 5 terminal switch. (See wiring diagram here.) You can get them, in multiple color variations, as well as many other configurations, at otrattw.net. For example, in addition to On-Off switches, I have an [On]/Off (Momentary) for a start switch and an [On]/Off/[On] for winch control. Like you, I like to be able to use accessories without the ignition switch on, but I like having the ability to ensure everything is off when I tuck her in. I have a locking On-Off switch I'll use to control accessory power. Lots of options. :)

Like lakeman said there are many ways to wiring the switches. You need a five pin for what you want and you will either use the leds ground or power wire to kill your led when the ignition is off. The way I did it is my switches have power when the key is on and 30 secs after it is off. I also put in a switch to override that and give power to all my aftermarket switches. This is easy to do with a fuse block and 2 relays.

I got mine from otrattw. (V8D2U66B)Each led is independent so they can be wired to come on with anything you want. I have all of mine (bottom LED)come on with the key and the top when the switch is turned on except the turn signal switch which flashes when on.

Larsonator,
I'm not exactly sure exactly what you are looking for, but you can get just about any configuration of rocker switch you'd like from OTRATTW (See my post above).
I have a dual LED On-Off rocker for winch control power. The lower LED is connected to ACC power so it lights with the key, but the switch power is always on so I can use the winch without turning on the RZR. Turning on this switch provides power to an [On]-Off-[On] control switch and the remote connector.

Thats exactly what I want and was trying to explain. You did it with 100 less characters...lol

Ordered my new switches and hope to have my wiring project wrapped up very soon. A few months ago I knew nothing about stereos/amps/eq's, 12 volt relays and different ways to switch things. Im still no professional but boy Iv come a longggggg way

Thank you for all your feedback guys
