Adding Harness to an XP4

I would like to get the Polaris retractable harnesses for the XP4. The problem that I see is that the rear seats do not have the harness tabs along the rear bar. What options do I have for this?

Also for those that have the front harnesses, how are they attached? More specifically where do they attach behind the seat?

Check out the click 6 seat belt bar from ISOTA OFF-ROAD.

David - do you know how they got the belts running through the hole in the top of the seat? Does the retractable part fit or did they do it some other way? I am currently looking into doing the same thing with the PRP XC Seats.

Thanks
We fed the buckle ends of the harness through the seats. Then secured the ends at the mounting points.
How much are these bars now? Need price shipped to 62959,its for a 2017 xp4 turbo, thanks!

I used my $250 Polaris accessory credit to purchase the click 6. Please please ISOTA put this bar on sale for Black Friday...I can't justify $389 for a bar with 4 tabs. I agree it's an engineering marvel. I'd stand in line at O dark 30 if you were local so I could get the "door buster" price on BF.

Bringing this thread up again. I've been told that the bar along the back seats is too high and needs to have a harness bar installed to lower the harness down. I've been working on adding harness to the XP4 but it seem you need brackets for the front bar and now brackets for the rear bar and the 4 harnesses.

Am I losing my mind to think that this is more complicated than it needs to be?

NO IT IS NOT!!! The higher and closer you can get to the area that the shoulder harnesses come into/around the seat's shoulder area the better.

When you start lowering where it's mounted you end up putting a vertical pull factor into the shoulder harnesses and loosing a horizontal pull factor during a crash

In extreme cases (such as where people mount the shoulder harnesses to the floor), you actually loose the ability of the harness to hold you from moving forward and it will pull you down in a crash. NOT GOOD - it basically holds you in place while it folds you in two. There is nothing holding you back from forward movement.

GET THAT MOUNT UP HIGH!

IT IS IMPORTANT AND CAN KEEP YOU FROM BREAKING YOUR BACK.

Attachment point should never be more than 6" below where the harnesses touch your shoulders.

Google "Mounting Five Point Harness" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I never said I was stuck on getting the click 6. When I posted this originally I was looking at different harnesses.

Well, I found a set of 4 point, 2" Dragonfire harnesses that were on sale and picked up 4 of them. Little did I realize that I was given two different part #'s. When I opened them up, I had 2 that bolted in and 2 that wouldn't. When I brought it up to Dragonfire I was made to feel like an idiot because "those harnesses should fit any RZR." Well, they don't.

Well after explaining to them that the bracket was different and texting pictures to them, I never got a response back. However, they did mention that when I was on the phone that I needed a harness bar for the back seats. I don't ever recall reading or hearing about this, hence my confusion.

So now I have two harnesses that work and two that are different. I'm about to take them back and go back to seat belts. After you add harnesses, a front harness bar, and a back harness bar, you'll be over a grand. Unless I'm missing something completely.

I would take them back. I would just buy 4 regular harnesses and buy the benchmark inserts. That is if you still have stock seats. With the inserts you don't need a bar to raise the harnesses because they now go through the seat. So here would be a breakdown of cost. Seat inserts are $15 a piece and you'll need 8 sets so that's $120. Harnesses, I'll use what I have just for reference, PRP 4.2 harnesses are $99 each so $400 there. If you still wanted a harness bar for the front I had one from a different company but I know utv inc sells one at $120.

So if you go this route you'd be in it about $640. Pretty good price for what the harnesses will do for you vs the seat belts. Post 2 in this thread shows the inserts in the stock seats and you can also see the harness bar.

This thread seems to have gotten off track of the original discussion of the click 6 style harnesses. How can they be added to the xp4. I do not like the standard 4 point because they lock you in so tight I never wear the top unless I am in a situation I deem dangerous. That is more dangerous than have the 3 point retractable where I can still lean up adjust the radio or get a drink. I want to add either the sub zero or click 6 but not sure if there is an option other than custom cage work. Any info would be appreciated

I originally thought the same thing. I weighed the options of the cost of the click 6 harnesses. After seeing the cost, I chose to go the route of the DragonFire 3" 4-point harness for me and my son. I used the 2" for my wife and daughter, both smaller frames.

We rode all day long in the woods, steep terrain, and gravel roads. Loved every minute of it over the standard seat belt. We didn't have any issues reaching around the cab of the RZR and the kids said they felt more secure, which is what I was attempting.

Couldn't be happier with my decision. I managed to pick up the harnesses for under $90.00 each here locally and only had the cost of brackets that mount to the rear bar of the front seat.

I also go the new bezels that mount in the console with the bracket that orientates the harnesses to the correct position.

Once again, couldn't be happier with our decision.

Lol, wrong you are, k-fab.

If you imagine a horizontal line backwards from the top of your shoulders you want the mounting point to be between level and 10 degrees down, that is the ideal height. With that said. The factory bar may work for some, and may be too high depending on height of rider. I use the factory bar to mount my standard harnesses to, and it's about 1/2" too high, but it's also so close to me that I'm not really concerned about it.

If you mount it too high as the genius above suggested, you end up without enough pressure holding your shoulders down and back, and in a crash you move around. Too low, and your harness folds you in half and you possibly end up sporting a broken back. Basically just get the mounts as close to level with your shoulders as possible.
