Good day,
I just installed my new SLP muffler and have a question regarding the hanging bracket.
On my stock muffler there are 2 bracket hangers that slide thru rubber grommets that are in the frame.
Now on the SLP there is only 1 braket hanger that is welded onto the left side of the muffler, and on the right is a bolt hole braket that lines up with the rubber grommet.
Does a bolt and nut need to be installed here or not. There seems to be an interference with the heat shield, and if adding a bolt/ nut wouldn't that made it too ridgid?

Awesome looking muffler by the way!

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,

Glad to hear that you like the looks of the muffler. Just wait until you ride with it! The added performance is the best part.

To answer your question about the install, there is a welded-on pin on the left (driver side). The left side pin slides into the rubber grommet (you'll want to use some WD-40 on the inner part of the rubber grommet) and then you can lift the right side up into place. The right side uses a pin (included) with a hair pin clip (also included) to hold it in place (You'll want to use some WD-40 on this side too in order to get the pin in). The pin and hair pin clip hold the muffler from moving side to side.

We have the pin just on the one side so that it allows you to push the muffler up into place past the mounting bracket. It is not too rigid installed this way, as the rubber grommets in both locations will isolate the vibration and allow for some movement. Do not use the muffler without the rubber grommets.

Here is a link to the installation instruction:
900 Performance Muffler Install

There should be no interference with the heat shield. I inspected the one on our 900 and it looks like we have about 3/4" to an inch of clearance. Make sure to spring the muffler in to the frame bracket on the bottom of the muffler back towards the engine using the stock springs.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thank you for the fast reply, much appreciated!

The box didn't have any other loose components in it other than the muffler, I guess that's why I was confused!
