So how bad are they really? Looking at getting an enclosed trailer with the double pop out beds. 7 x 16 with v-nose. Will be used for 2017 XP 4 1000. Looking at a used one (used twice) so practically brand new and a few grand less than new. But I've heard advise that the 8 to 8.5 is way better. Those would be around 8 grand more, maybe more cause they're not as tall to it'll prob be more custom and cost more.

So I'd like to real world experience please. If anyone has a video of getting in/out of the rzr in the 7' wide that'd be really great (not sure anyone has done that though:smile)

Thanks!

I had a narrower trailer and getting in and out was doable but very tight. The doors are recessed in from the tires so you can get them to open a bit. If you are bigger though, you'll probably have problems.

That said, what would concern me is the pop out beds. How much do they take away from each side? It's already a tight fit. Adding beds to the side would pretty much make getting in and out next to impossible for a normal size adult.

Can't you take your machine to the trailer and see how it fits? That would let you see if it was doable for your situation.

Thanks guys! Good point about the beds, they look to stick out some. The trailer is 3 hours away, but I suppose I could make the trip with the RZR and check it out. I'm suprised that these trailers aren't more popular for folks that like to camp. Prices way better than toyhaulers and less size I'd think they'd be ideal. Thanks for you input!

I have a full 8.5' wide trailer and I personally wouldn't go any narrower. I keep the machine roughly centered in the trailer and it gives me access to walk around all sides of it if needed. Really useful for loading up for longer trips and needing to store stuff beside or in the machine as well.

My concern would be how does the 7' vrs the 8.5' pull? I'm sure both are sails and mpg are terrible either way, but does the 7' wide make any difference? If it's little if any go for the wider. I like the dart board EZ. That makes it for the bad weather days when corn hole and a beer are not comfortable outside!

I'm thinking of getting an enclosed eventually to use as a sleeper also. There is a company that makes them with bathrooms and kitchenette. I personally would just build in my own cabinetry and Murphy bed. I'll carry a bucket for a toilet. Who really needs a bathroom anyway! If anyone has done that please share pictures. Thanks

We cargo trailer camp. 8.5 wide (x24', we used to have 2 RZR's) . insulated, AC. I'm not sure my big azz could get out of my RZR in a 7' wide..:surprise:big-grin. Most of our off roading is done we're there are campsites with electric, showers and toilets nearby. Still ordered a porta potty for emergencies.... Works great. Ours was around $80. We sleep on a dbl thick queen air mattress, works great also.

Sorry, no pics of RZR loaded but here's our set up.

You should be able to find a 8.5 wide set up for under $7K used (And that'd be a 24')

I have an 8.5 x18 on order from discovery trailer, hopefully it will be finished in the next week or so. I added 7' interior height, windows, insulation, A/C, power package, upper and lower cabinets, torsion spread axles, extended tongue, aluminum skinned interior, coin rubber floor, Etrack...cant remember what else I added but total is around $11K. Pop out camper tents are an option I did not choose, I plan to either add a murphy bed or just use a cot but haven't decided yet

....anyone have advice on a quiet generator?

I ordered it through trailer sport specifically one of these with several options

I ordered a 7 ft wide with upgrades & built it into a hauler-camper. fully insulated with a/c, cabinets. carry all camp gear, has smart tv, microwave ,power outlets for 120 plus a 2000 watt Yamaha inverter.use a queen size air bed which fits perfectly & sleeps great.I"v spent approx. $6 grand on all of it new in 2017. tow with a tundra with air bags, trailer brakes & standard tow package .hauls very well for what it is, my can am fits with room to spare ,64 wide & 74 tall sitting. sometimes camp for 5 days I don't have any problem getting in or out when it's loaded but I don't have a "tool shed" ( I weigh 160#).

Wish you were closer to me. I am selling my 8.5 X 14 with an extra foot of height that fits my 1k great. Order it a couple years ago so I would have no issues opening doors inside or worrying about gettin in the door even if I did 32” tires. The extra width is kinda a wind drag but I would imagine the 7’ would catch lots of wind as well.

We went 7x19 last year. It works great! But it creates work too. Can’t get it through the door width wise with the paddles on. If you go with anything except stock tires/wheels it will be a challenge to get it in. The door opening is not 7’. I am considering selling to go 8’ wide. I put e track on the walls and built a bed. We put a queen mattress on it. We also have 110 and a portable ac unit. Everything stows in the v when the machine is in there.

Until a few weeks ago, I never heard of anyone doing this. Last weekend we went riding and I got to see two of them at the park. I found a 7x7x7x16 cargo trailer that's a few years old for 3800.00, that I'm going get next week. What btu AC/Heat arte you using? I'm thinking a 15k btu will work. My only concern is how tight it will be when I get portals.

Sure a 7' is a tight squeeze, but how often are you really walking around the machine while it's in the trailer? Pull it out to have fun - put it back in when you're done. (Or is that the other way around?) Anyway, doesn't it just depend on how big of a person you are? You either fit, or you don't.

Are the treadplates there to distribute the weight slightly? is that just preventative or have you had problems in the past? Just curious as I plan to store mine in the trailer so it will have that load full time.[/QUOTE]

an important note on build is to get trailer frame with beams on 16" centers, most are 24".makes for a much stronger unit.tread plates are a good idea for weight distribution as well as tires not marring the floor .storing the utv in an enclosed trailer has good & bad points ,it can get super hot inside if exposed to direct sun light without some sort of climate control.

Yes, I store my machine in the trailer full time. Even with 16" centers the floor will sag over time. Especially if it gets wet frequently with mud or water. I had a local metal shop cut some diamond plate stock to 1' x 4' and screwed it to the cross members. It makes me feel a lot better when the trailer is bouncing on a rough road, too.

I was going to put rubber flooring in my trailer but decided to seal & paint with porch & floor paint ,several coats to get good coverage & to keep water from soaking floor. i havent installed my diamond plate runners yet as my trailer is a build in progress but will soon.my garage is full of motorcycles & my utv .lol
