45 mph top speed

Help, I am having a problem getting above 45 mph top speed. I have just put 23-58 weights in the clutch with a black spring and new belt trying to fix this but it did not work. I am hitting 6200 rpm. This is in a 2014 razor 800 trail with engine braking in it. Before I did this I had 62 weights and a green spring ,all I gained was a small rpm raise, about 200 rpm on the top end.maybe a little stronger low end.

I had a 2009 rzr 800 with what I thought was the same clutch setup. It had a top speed of 58 mph. This newer razor runs great from 0 to 45 and that is where I am at. I have marked the clutch face and ran it to 6200 rpm, the belt goes to the top so I know it is hitting the high gearing ok.

I am running 27-9-12 tires all the way around. Am at 5000 ft and going to 10000 plus. I maybe have a different problem than ordinary. When I got this razor it was new, but we took the added on engine brake clutch out of my old razor and everything seemed alright. I thought anyway, I have used it mostly for hunting and did not try to go fast. Lately I noticed a power drop in high range. My mechanic thought maybe I needed new weights and pins and so on. We took it apart and really found no problems, put it back together and put a new belt on. Did not fix anything. Got to checking it out and was told to change the was to 23-58 and use a black spring. This is to Change for our altitude. I gained a little power but still only can get 45 mph. It tacked at 6000 max before, now after the new was it tacks 6200 , I think that is why I gained on the low end power but it did nothing for the top end.

Low speed and low rpm rarely almost never a clutch issue and always a lack of power problem

Once the belt is fully shifted out the tuning components do nothing

I would stop looking at the clutch and start looking to see what is robbing power

Not saying your clutch tuning is right either but that is not your main issue.

You did say you swapped clutches go into detail on years and models on that

I had the fuel pump replaced at 1700 miles. Really don't think my compression is down. This rzr runs awesome from 0 to 45. Tacks to 6200 rpm. Which may not be quite enough. Uses no oil. I just t hi ink I have a clutching problem. Red rock atv says they can get it right but they want about $300.00 to do it. I will probably do that but I wanted some opinions.

If they fix it, report back what the problem was.

Several Sportsman riders have reported similiar issues and found out the secondary clutch buttons were shot. Wondering if this could be the same issue in the RZRs? I've got similiar issues with mine.

I just had the weights and new bolts were put in but I don't know about buttons. I am having this done, I am not to knowledgeable about it. I will have to ask if the buttons were changed also. This is really bugging me though, I need to get this thing fixed. I appreciate the input from all of you.

No doubt. Todd knows his stuff and has helped me with other issues. I thought mine was the fuel pump too. Had 25psi at idle, replaced the pump, now have 42psi...but still got the loss of power above about 40mph. Compression is fine. Only considered the secondary buttons because it seems to be a fix on the Sportsman forums. And I know the buttons in both my primary and secondary have at least 2500-3000 miles on them.

I still want to know what fixes yours.

Hi, I still am not sure I corrected the right problem but I ended up rebuilding the secondary clutch. I have #30 weights in the primary, may be too heavy but now I have a very powerful low end and I can get it to 54 mph on the top end. I am going to try this for a while. I do have engine braking on my razor.
