I have been reading up on going with 26x9 bighorns for the front and rear. I know that FRBear has this combo and posted some pics in other threads.

Anybody else with this combo have any good pics of the back? Also any comments...pros and cons???

Thanks!

I dont have them on mine, but some of my friends do and that combo seems to work great. I think that it looks good that way as well.

I thought about it just cause the Rears wear faster then the fronts. But really I can't see how you dont loose traction. When I went from a 25"x10" rear trie to a 26"x12" It really seemed like I gained a lot of traction. Much less rear tire spin and I don't need AWD much at all.. I climb a lot of slippery hills with mud and rocks. So I tend to need all the traction I can get

I have been running the 26'x9" all the way around till just recently when I put on a pair of Maxxis 4 speeds up front. Still running the Big horn 2.0s on the rear (9" wide)
I like it alot. I run WORCS races and some MX, The weight savings is big. I guess in some terrain the wider rear tires might work better but with the weight of these machines I have got nothing but traction. In fact I would'nt mind some wheel spin.
After I wheighed my stock Big horn on its wheel.... I will NEVER bolt another one of those on my machine.. boat anchor...

My father-in-law runs the 26x9 big horns on all 4 corners on his stock rzr. Works great for him. I think it makes his rzr a bit more squirrelly with the tires aired down, but maybe that was just me.

Thanks for all the quick replies!

I'm leaning towards the 9's all around because I had the 12's on my brute force and they are really wide and flat. I really don't want my RZR to be huge and wide. I figured if I put the 9's all around on stock wheels, they will flatten the rears out a tad since they are 8" wide rims.

More pics would be great!

I plan on going with 26x9 all around as well. To keep my RZR under or as close to 50" wide. As far as 12" vs 9" wide tires, it all comes down to contact pressure and when you need it(hard pack, rockcrawling) or not(sand). Mud is a toss up do to what your riding in and the need for flotation or control. Check out Highlifter forums and look up "narrow tires vs. wide tires".
One time I was trying to get up a hard packed hill in my rockcrawler with 12" wide tires and kept sliding off the hill. Da Wife drove right past me in her street 4x4 on 8" wide tires, do to the higher contact pressure. Look at some ice racers tires, yes they got studs, but their tires are not all that wide. Look at racing swamp buggys in open class, no wide tires, need to dig to the bottom and control the turning. On the other hand, look at mud boggers open class, wide paddle tires to grab as much as possible. But little to no control.
Are 9" wide tires the answer to everything , no, but Da Wife street 4x4 as driven all over Pismo beach with out much of a problem.
I'm just saying.

I run 27-9-12 big horns all the way around it gave me 2 more inches of ground clearance. Its on a RZR 2011 LE I raced my friends heads up and won with traction his is stock bought a week apart same machine stock tires 25-10-12
I ran this combo on my grizzy and rhino and never had a problem i really like this set up.

I found it works well, though mine are on 6" wheels all around. Seems like much better traction that the stock 25 x 10's. Hardly ever need 4wd.

Can you snap some pics of this set up?

This is what I originally wanted but figured they would rub in the front and even more on the motor mount. Do you have any rubbing issues???

I also run 26x9 all around. They blow in the sand but there is a difference in fast trail riding. The rear seemed to track better not sure if thats exactly what it is but there was a difference and I liked it. I did have to play with my shocks a bit.
I would like to try 26x10 for playing in the sand but I prefer doing 50 on a squirlly dirt trail giggling the entire time.

We don't have sand so I won't have to worry about that. I mainly ride rocky hard pack trails and wooded trails, with light mud (I don't hit the deep stuff). I am getting about a 2" lift and figured if I go with the 9's all around and just a small wheel spacer in the rear, then I will have plenty of clearance and still be close to 50". I just hope it's not too unstable with the skinnies all around but they don't look to be. They look alot flatter than I remember.

Do you have any type of lift or wheel spacers in this pic?
No, I had just set the stock preloads up 3 clicks. No spacers. Stock 6" steel wheels all around.

I was kinda wishing I'd gone with 27's after putting on the 26's. Only I wasn't sure if they would rub, and am reluctant to do a lift with only 50" wide. Seems like it would be tippy.
