Looking at ordering a 2019 RZR XP4/maybe turbo. Other than the turbo who can tell me what the difference vs a non turbo? Is there larger half-shafts, bigger a-arms, bigger cv joints. Not much I can see on Polaris’s specs.

Both will make you happy. Remember the turbo is more HD because the increase in power adds more stress to the components so they needed to beef them up. So is the turbo a "heavy duty" machine? Yes, but because it has to be otherwise it would just break whenever you got on it.

I did not get ride command. A buddy just got a Turbo-S with Ride Command, its pretty dang cool. If I did it again I'd probably get it, same with Dynamix. The ride command GPS seems to be pretty spot on. That alone is worth it to me.

When I bought my XP4 the Turbos still had Fox shocks and it was a $5k price difference so I didn’t get it. Now that they come with the same WE shocks as the non turbos and the difference is only $2k it’s a no brainer.

I really don’t need the HP and personally don’t like the added complexity(more crap to fail in the back country), but the transmission and front diffs are worth it alone.

Talking semantics I think...

When I ordered mine MSRP was ~$27k in Oct of 16 and took delivery in Jan 2017. Polaris dropped the price in Feb or March $3k due to poor sales because of problems with the 16 XPTs and recalls. They also extended the factory warranty to 2 years for people who purchased before 12/31/16. Price drop had nothing to due with the shocks. 16s were not offered with WE shocks but the 17+ models (starting mid 17 I believe) were and there was/is a ~$3k price difference.

Old Thread but I just went through the same process of Turbo or no turbo. I went with the turbo. I ride with other non turbos and I think the suspension is the limiting factor on fast bumpy desert runs, you can only go so fast before you start getting beat up in either car. For what we do, both cars are similar. But the turbo allows you to go a little slower and smoother in the rough stuff and still catch up on the straights. (cheating) Non turbo drivers have to get beat up in their cars in the rough stuff just to keep up on fast runs. I can go just as fast from point a to point b cruising through the bigger hits and then make up lost time on the straights, Great when bringing the wife and kids. I think the turbo is worth it for my situation. Suspension seems about the same stock vs stock. Turbo S is another story.

The motor on XPT is completely different from XP 1000. XPT is 925cc based on 900 engine block . I was told by Polaris engineer they based the XPT on the 900 engine because it's beefier, heavier case and stronger internals to handle the added power. The XP 1000 was thinned down to achieve the power to weight they wanted to get to 110 HP. The 1000 engine was basically maxed out at that HP. The XPT 925cc was built to handle up to 200 HP.

Most people assume the XPT is a XP 1000 with a turbo added. It's not.
