We try and stay on top of changes in clutches on RZR's for all models except Turbo as we simply do not sell any clutch items for a turbo but belts. Why? I don't have access to one and the clutches are so different.
The main change most people need to be aware of for some 17 models is the addition of a one way bearing in the primary clutch to give the vehicle full on EBS (Engine Braking System)
EBS has two parts, a EBS helix and a one way bearing. Just a EBS helix in secondary gives engine braking down to around 4-5 and the one way adds it to you stop.
Most people do not care for full on EBS as it will drag your back tires on steep loose terrain causing you to lose control and if you jump much you will hate it. In my opinion the one way bearing they use is a bad idea, most do not last long and most people do not like that much engine braking
All 16 and 17 RZR vehicles and Generals have the new Boss secondary clutch and they all have a EBS helix in them but that does not mean it has EBS, it means you have some engine braking down to around 4-5 mph, ONLY the models with a one way bearing have EBS
The Dalton kits we sell would still retain the engine braking helix on all these models except we call it less EBS helix which means it is less aggressive when it engages at 10-15 mph
But here is a list of models I see that changed for 17 and I think I am correct on them, hard to follow Polaris on clutching.
The following 2017 models have EBS with a one way bearing
2017 1000S
2017 900 XC and all 50" models
2017 570 with power steering
2016 and 2017 Generals all models
Models that do not have EBS
No XP 1000 of any kind, two or four seat or HL edition
2017 four seat 900
std 570
The 17 900S parts diagram says it has it but the features on Polaris says it does not so I would go with that.
Another change for 17 is Polaris put what they call a Top Hat Bushing in the outside of the secondary clutch where the bolt goes through and the hole in it is too small for a spring compressor to work with it, we drive it out when working on secondary clutches and reinstall it.
ALL 16 and 17 models have the square pucks in the secondary clutch instead of round rollers and they have been wearing peoples clutches out, we have the round rollers to replace them.
The main part of this is the one way bearings used in more 17 models that were not used before.
If you want to get rid of a one way bearing, there are two ways. Get a new clutch from another model that does not have it or buy the tools hopefully from us and swap the bearing out to the two way.
What led me to posting this is customer has a 900S who wants to race and we were talking about his clutch yesterday and according to the parts diagram his has a one way bearing but this AM I see the specs on Polaris site says it does not. I am going to have him physically check it to see for sure which way. Really would be nice if Polaris would have both parts diagrams and specs inline with each other so I don't have to physically take every model apart!!! LOL
If I missed something let me know and if you have questions feel free to call or email
Thanks
