I have a 2017 900S got 200 miles 35 hrs. I changed the oil at 25, run high octane with additive. I have a knocking noise coming from the motor when it's just sitting there idling. It has done it since day one right off the trailer. Is this something to be worried about or is this common.

If the sound goes away after you get moving it could be a faulty cam chain adjuster. There are some aftermarket manually adjustable ones on the marketplace. I would see if it is covered under warranty first.

The hydraulic adjuster works like a hydraulic lifter. If it is weak it will make a clacking or knocking sound. It should be repaired ASAP as the timing chain could jump a cog.

Our 1000S did this the first couple of startups for a couple seconds but hasn't done it since or I would have taken it back for warranty work.

Naturally I go to start up my machine to post a video and it doesn't make the noise. I went to you tube to watch related videos of knocking motors and after watching a couple I guess mine is more of a pinging noise. I will try again tomorrow to post a video. Thank you for all the suggestions so far.

They make strange noises if your not familiar with the rzr. This is my first one and I swear it was at the shop weekly for the first month and ever time the dealer showed me several on the showroom floor that made the same noises. Most of my noises were coming from the clutch when the arms move around and stuff and the belt slapping the housing when I would rev it up. The dealers answer was "well, you're not supposed to rev it up like that in neutral". And then showed me that every single rzr 900 they had did it. I also had the ticking, mainly when it would first start up and that was the cam chain tensioner. And again the dealer said it is normal and showed me a few brand new ones that made the same noise. I ended up changing the tensioner to an automatic mechanical one so that noise is gone. I just got used to the rest now.
