Cold start rattle. Also hear a rattle when I'm on the gas, most noticeable when at a steady speed/rpm, that sounds like it coming from around the muffler.

having issues with shifting between reverse and low too. Display says its in gear but give it gas and it grind and pop awful. Probably not an issue with the machine, just my operating skills.

The owners manual should have steps in it to adjust the shift cable. That's been the problem on other Prostar RZRs.

Just changed the oil and rode around for a while. Seems like it fixed it. Only did it once, but I was going around 30mph in low and locked the brakes and tried to go in Reverse before I had completely stopped. Even then it was a short, less harsh sounding grind than before.

I did find a fair amount of shavings on the drain plug magnet. Hopefully just normal for break-in oil to have that?

finally somebody listened to me.
a lot smoother aint it?:)
and yes that is normal. since fluids are cheap I would recommend changing the front and rear every 50hrs after the 25hrs break-in.

OK. I thought I posted this question earlier today but cannot find it so here is my question again.

RZR 2015 900 XC

I get a metallic whining when:

a) The engine-drive train is hot
b) I am in high gear and finally
c) Below 7-9 miles per hour.

It does not matter if I am in Turf Mode, 2 wheel or All wheel mode.

Anyone have any ideas

are you using 5w50 oil? that's the reason why. use 10w40 or even 10w50 and you will be amazed on how it will quiet down.. use a 100% synthetic oil not a hydrocracked synthetic. better flow and better lubrication.:)
and ohh use a synthetic media oil filter too not a paper media.

I just got back from putting about 500 miles on my new 900 Trail in Utah and my complaint is the engine braking works occasionally but not always. It started out the first hundred miles or so working fine then as time went on and I went to a high altitude place it started not working more and more. A little background: Richfield Utah has a base elevation of 5300ft but all riding is from there to 11k. I found the higher I went the less it worked and from 8-11k it worked about 1/4 of the time unless I blipped the throttle, then it would often work but sometimes it would take blipping two or more times to get it to kick in. Not good or fun while descending a steep grade. Around town it worked about 2/3 of the time. It is my only complaint on an otherwise good machine. The local Polaris dealer said when I took it in for the 25hr service that the system was new to them and they couldn't explain why it was not working consistently. A number of my friends riding 850 Sportsman with eb were having no problems. Anybody else with the new Trail LE having this issue?

Polaris has 2 distinct braking system, the EBS engine braking system, wich slows down the machine on straight trails when you let go the pedal and the ADC active descent control wich make the EBS work automaticaly on steep hills...

On your RzR you have EBS but not ADC that your friends have standard on their Sportsmans... Only the RzR XC has ADC.

When you "blip" you trick the EBS to engage.

Your RzR Trail is meant for friendly trails, not steep hills and rock crawling.

I think I saw that its possible to add ADC to your machine, but not sure...

Gerry,

I was on a ride with you in Richfield. As far as your problem I would have your local dealer check this out for you in that I have had no problems with mine at all on the EBS. This is by far the best system t I have had on any of my rzr's. I would agree that it is possibly the one way bearing in that on the kits that I have installed in the past, on the 800's, this is the item that would fail the most.
