Here is a YouTube video link showing noise from the front differential on my new 2015 RZR 4 900. Sounds like marbles clanging. Video was taken while costing down hill with engine off as well as while running. Noise can be heard most between 22-30 mph. I also own a 2015 RZR 900 S & that one does not make any noise at all. Anyone else having a noise issues?

Yup. Sounds just like mine. At speed I think it's the loudest noise from the machine. Took it to the dealer and was told there is nothing wrong, nothing to fix because nothing is broken, just drive it. Ah yes, it was pointed out to me that they weren't charging me this time, you know, because I just bought it. SMH. Great customer service skills.

When I received mine last week I took it for a quick spin up the mountain. I was surprised how much more noise there was vs my 2 seat 900 s and both my old 800 4 and XP900 4. At first I only had a viabraton from the front drive shaft but not the marble sound. I took it for a 90 mile run to Crown King AZ and back with a pit stop up Mount Trifle which is 7782 feet. That was the first time I really needed to use 4x4 for the climb up.

Towards the end of the trip I put it back in 2wd and then the noise started. After about 5 minuets we thought we were not going to make it back home due to how loud it was. That is when I stopped and put the camera under the unit and took the video. Will see what happens next?

Just bought our 2015 RZR® XP 4 1000 EPS in February. Dealer has had it more than we have. The noise is driving us crazy. So far the dealer has replaced the drive line with the bearing and the front dif. Still the same annoying rocks in a tumbler noise. Gets real loud at about 30 mph +. Today the dealer informed us that Polaris admitted there is a problem. As of today, Polaris told our dealer to adjust the pinion bearing. We shall see if that works. I will keep you posted.

I found this surfing the net late last night. May be worth a try if no one is able to figure out the issue from Polaris? :scared2:

Simply remove your entire drive shaft extending between the rear PTU (power take off unit) and the front differential including both sections (containing 3 universal joints in total), then send it to us. When we receive your drive shaft assuming all of your hard parts including universal joints and the center support bearing are in acceptable condition, we will then straiten and balance your driveshaft to our strict tolerances and will ship it back to you within one business day.

If your hard parts are not in acceptable condition a quote will be generated to reflect additional repairs at additional cost that will be directed to you and from the day we receive the work order, the drive shaft will be serviced and shipped the following day.

Noise and Vibration Problem:

Many brand new 4 seat and 2 seat RZR 1000's and 900's and 800's come directly from the factory with a vibration and noise problem. This vibration and noise is caused by the drive shaft that connects the rear PTU (power take off unit) to the front differential. The majority of vibration and noise issue is a result of imbalance and radial runnout of the driveshaft. Even after balancing and straightening operations are performed on the drive shaft it is still common to experience a noise from the front differential area but the vibration will be 99% cured. The resultant noise and vibration is generated from the excessive non-complimenting run angles of the universal joints in the drive shaft system. By placing washer shims under the rearward mount of the front differential the run angle of the front universal is reduced and this improves/eliminates the remainder of the noise/vibration.

Received mine back from the dealer. Polaris stated all is normal. The issue is logged in the system for future problems if they accrue? I talked with the owner & he told me to try using a thicker oil for now. He suggested using a 75W 140. Said they used it on the noisy Can Am differentials & it helped. On my way home I stopped and picked up a bottle. Noise has gone down. I am next going to shimmy the rear of the diff to see if the angle adjustment helps.

Front differential fixed on my 2015 RZR 4 900. Here is a video I just took after the repair. I dove the unit 4 miles to warm it up before taking this footage.

Total cost $15.- 1 bottle Royal Purple Max-Gear Synthetic Gear 75W 140 & 2 washers!

So I would venture to guess that the 900 4 seaters have the same front differential as the 1000's....

I don't think Polaris will worry about fixing this issue as long as sales stay up. So what it sounds like crap?? They aren't really failing, and people keep buying them as fast as they can build them. Why should they care?

Thor,

Have you actually tried to use your awd since switching to the thicker oil? Im afraid your going to find that oil that thick is going to keep the overrunning Hilliard clutch from being able to engage properly. I'll bet under a load it will slip now.

But I would love to hear your results either way.

I had the unit in 4x4 lots of the day yesterday in Sedona AZ on our day ride. Did 40 miles with no slip issues at all. 4x4 worked as it should when needed while rock climbing. I added 2 washers. One on the left & right side of the rear diff which is closest to the cabin giving it more if a angel up towards the shaft. It was really hard to get them in. Lucky I have not installed my winch yet. If so it would almost be impossible to get them in. I will try to take a 20-30 mile run tonight after I close shop to see if it keeps quite.

Just installed the washers on mine with a wide spool winch mounted above the differential. Was easy to do and only took about 20min. Just losen the 4 bolts holding the winch plate(don't have to take off) then losen the front diff bolts and remove the rear that you will be placing the washers under. Slide one washer at a time into place from the rear of the diff. Use a flash light to see and a small screwdriver to line up the washers once you have them over the wholes. Install diff bolts then tighten up diff and winch plate.

I have not switched oil yet. Just took for a spin down the street with little to no noise. But have not really tested yet. Will keep everyone posted
