that is exactly what happened to my bosses xp .By the time he got to the dealer after the weekend it was working fine and the dealer could not find anything wrong with it. You can also check the code and google that information and will probably lead you back to the switch I am talking about . The wiring harness actually broke off of the sensor on mine right at the sensor. I now carry a spare switch with me i case it happens again. If you look at the gas pedal you can see the sensor right on top and follow the harness up to the connector. We also have the walker evans edition. I have not had the problem yet since i have replaced the switdh.I would not want to get stuck in the dunes because of the sensor.:redrzr:

do not know. When you get it back take a look at where it is and the wiring harness routing . their seemed to be a lot of tension on the wires. Check out the way the main harness comes into that area. I think if the wires were a little longer there might not be an issue. I am going to make the harness about 3 inches longer on my spare. I installed a 10 inch sub in my xp and thought that i might have hit the wires but i tried to make sure i did not touch those wires. I knew about the issue before i installed the sub so i took extra precaution not to touch the wires, Then I thought that maybe the bass caused the the wires to break. To much vibration . For $50.00 and less head aches at the dealer i replaced the switch myself and now keep a spare.

from what i here both the 800 and 900's have the switch. You will probably be lucky if they will know what you are talking about. just stick your head up under the dash and ask them what that sensor is above the gas pedal.see if they can tell you what might happen if it goes bad.

I called my dealers mechanic about this after reading this. He said he has never seen or heard of any machines with this problem. He has a great reputation in the area and they sell quite a few. I am still trying to understand if this is just a few machines or if it is related to how the dealer put the machines together. Not seeing any mention of this problem outside of this forum.

this is the first year they are using this switch on the 800 and 900's . If he has not seen this issue come to his shop then he is not going to know about is. When you pick up your razor unplug the switch and start it up and see what happens. You will understand what i am talking about. I do not know how they ship them to the dealer and what they have to do to prep them for the customer but i do not believe they go underneath the dash for prepping the vehicle for their customer. We bought two 900's from the same dealer on the same day they both had the same problem but the wires broke off the back of my switch. It happened to my boss while he was pulling his out of the shop to go to the desert. when he took it to the dealer they could not find anything wrong with it . Mine happened at glamis exiting the dunes ,but oon mine the wires broke . We checked the engine light for codes and googled the code and it all lead back to that switch . i called the dealer parts department and he did not know what kind of switch i was talking about. Ater awhile of discribing the switch and where it was located he was able to find it. They did not have it in stock and said polaris had the part on backorder until 1/25/13. after calling about 18 dealers in socal . i was referred to ritenow motorsports in Arizona by malcom smith motorsports . I bought 3 of them . 2 for me and 1 for my boss. I have not had any problem yet since replacing the switch. Ask you mechanic to unplug the switch and run it.

The mechanic was very aware of that sensor and it's function. The point was that he had not seen or heard of any machines where wires were breaking or any other problems with that sensor.

if you would have read my earlier post than you have read that i thought the wires breaking off my sensor might have been caused by the 10 in sub installed under the dash and that is why i did not take it in for warranty. my boss had the problem pulling it out of the shop just like a couple other people . It may not be such a big deal but the two xp's we bought only had about 200 hundred miles on them. I like my 900 and it is alot better than the 800 i still have . Where are you located.

Just so you know when a dealer gets a new rzr in the only things they need to assemble are the cage seats and seatbelts. The rest is all ready done

I have not seen the harness routing on the 800 but there is not much slack on our 900 and if you are driving fast over whoops and going through the dunes fast there will be alot of vibration which in fact can have alot of movement in the wires. which can cause them to frey at the switch or break like mine did. The two wires going into the back of the sensor are really close together .They have like a rubber silcone sealing them in the sensor. I dug all the rubber out to see what it looked like . I can see where their might be a problem with those wires if there is alot of shaking.
I am new to this forum and did not actually see that your location is on the right side. sorry . I have put my location up there as well. What brought me to this site is the problem I had with my xp . reading this discussion helped me solve the problem with the XP. I didn't have to take it to the dealer for them to tell me that it might have been cause by the sub installation. which then would make it not in warranty. I ordered the switch and replaced and have not had any problems since. I will be at glamis again this weekend . With the exception of the last two weeks the XP as been out every weekend since middle of december when we bought them .

I am pretty new here too. I am glad to hear that everything is solved for you and that you have been out enjoying. I wish I could say I was going to Glamis next weekend! Have fun.

I am glad to see posts like these. It helps a lot in understanding things I will never find in any manual. Thanks for sharing here

Well, i got mine back from the dealer today and they couldn't figure out why the check engine light came on and they said they checked the switch and said it was within specs. WTF?

Smokeater, which dealer are you dealing with? Looks like we live near each other. From what Pumpjockey said, can't you just replace it yourself after buying the part?

I went to ridenow in chandler. My rzr is running fine now, so i wonder if i even need to replace. Apparently ridenow zeroed out and adjusted switch ( polaris protocall). I might just purchase an extra in case it starts doing it again. Another possibility they brought up is the fact that my ssv sub has a magnet that could affect the switch which is magnetic too? What do you guys think?

There is a magnet sealed inside the switch. But what is your ssv sub ?[/COLOR]
