2013 RZR 570 mud in engine

We have had 570 for 18 months with very little riding. Trail riding in creeks and my 12 year old mudding after a snow. After replacing airbox and throttle that dealer said was saturated with mud, we now have to replace engine after it quit again. $3,000. I have read all over this forum that this is a problem with 2013 design. Poloaris won't speak to me, must go through dealer. Dealer just told us he wouldn't even call Polaris because engine was full of mud-said it must have been sunk and turned off while in mud which sucked the mud and water in. Even if we get it fixed, the same parts will go on there and it will happen again-or we can't ride like we want. It was never sunk in mud! Has anyone had any success with Polaris and this issue?

I'd also recommend a different dealer.

I have it scheduled to go to another dealer already, but they probably won't touch it since one dealer has already taken it apart. Will call today. Told the dealership it was at that we knew about problems with 2013 and that we will probably be contacting a lawyer, now he doesn't want to touch it. Looks like we will go down there to just load parts onto the trailer. New parts on this thing so far are fuel pump, throttle, airbox, sensor and now new engine. Only had it since Christmas 2012.

Saw this at Windrock the other day. Following a 2013 570 thru some water; wasnt that deep at all. We then road down some big rocks...his 570 stalled.

Opened air box...full of water. Then I noticed the tube under fender was completely unhooked.

Amazingly, he got it started after about 30 minutes. I didnt realize this was a common issue with these 570s. Not cool at all.

Got started, probably only fairly clean water, no mud to destroy the cylinder walls. Hopefully didn't hydrolock the cylinder and damage the bearings...

What's not cool is Polaris knows about this problem yet there are still people running 2013 570s w crap intake on the trails and Polaris or the dealer can't contact them or send them some kind of email or anything?? Unacceptable this is still happening!!!!!

Polaris knows about the problem and so should anyone that owns a 2013. It's all over the forum and has been for months.

Once again a case of research and preventative maintenance. Check everything on the damned machine either when you get done riding for the day or before you ride for the day.

And the bitching about Polaris starts again.

Unfortunately there are people who only find the forum after they've had a problem.

There is a service bulletin to inspect your machine for the issue that caused your problem. It is a well documented faulty design. Your Polaris dealer needs to get his head out of his a$$. The bulletin is R-13-02 - RZR 570 AIR INTAKE INSPECTION.

P.S. you can search your VIN for recalls and service bulletins at the following link. Hope this helps you some.

Thanks. The VIN doesn't show a recall. I checked from a site on this forum and the dealer checked. There is a model number with a recall I found that is close to our model number, but he didn't see anything about that. Are service bulletin's attached to model number or vin's or were they attached to just the year?

If I understand what your dealer is trying to tell you and that is that you submerged your RZR to the air intake, then the clutch would be full of mud and water too. The clutch intake is lower. If the clutch is not full of mud, that is proof you did not submerge your RZR.

There is an aftermarket fix for that air intake tube that fell apart (or you can snorkle).

If anyone tells you this is a maintenance issue, they live in a different reality. Maintenance has nothing whatsoever to do having to come up with "fixes" for problem designs. This goes for any vehicle, any make, on road or off. Do not feel like you caused this issue. It's not you. If it was, there wouldn't be so many threads on this air tube failing.

Is this an extended warranty issue?

It's been to two places, one to change the airbox that was full of mud and the throttle was locked up. At that time, we thought problem was caught before hitting engine. No mudding since those parts changed and it ran fine for a while. We have the parts that were removed and the airbox was practically collapsed. Not one mention about the clutch. So that's a good point.

Here are a few pics of engine and clutch. We got it back from dealer. Not sure what to do from here. The dealer mentioned that the airbox was full of water and dirt. That made it worse because that was just changed. I told him so and he looked relatively shocked too. Lime that was the big reason he said we sunk it in mud. Any opinions advice on this are welcome. I have quite a few more pics.

I was just going to say something about the dirt on the engine... then realized it wasn't rebuilt yet. Best of luck to you on the rebuild. I was almost in the same place recently. My filter got so wet in fell into the air box. Sure am glad I had the k&n filter under the stock one.:redrzr:

The dealer we took it to wouldn't contribute it to the intake. However, he did say the airbox filter was full of water and had dust in it. That airbox was jut 2 weeks old when this happened because it had been changed out already! So I am positive it was from the faulty intake. Another dealer has agreed to look at it even though it's in pieces. They told me that they had two cases open right now with Polaris on this same issue and Polaris keeps denying them.

Or one of those fancy schmancy sno-mobile engines with a blower!

Might sound dumb, but are you accidentally spraying into the intake tube while washing it then riding in very dusty conditions?
