Ok so I've got a 2012 rzr 800s le and I've broken 3 front hubs in 4 months. I went to order a set of billet hubs from utv inc. The first salesman said they would fit and if I wanted to buy only the front they would be $400 or all for $525. I called back to order and talked to another salesman who was a jerk and said the rear would not fit because they changed the rear bearings changed between 11and12 and to call fireball. He also said he would now way sell me fronts only. I called fireball and they said 11and 12 were all the same. During all this I remembered I had a 900 front hub on the shelf so I pulled it out from the best I can tell if I change the rotor it will bolt up. I was gonna order a rotor in the morning but I wanted to see if anybody else had tried this yet. Thanks

11-12 are the same... lol. I just threw a set of 2012 hubs on the rear of my 11... typical trouble with the race sticking to the hub... trashed it.

Id be curious to see if the xp hub is the same as the s hub. Same part number?

The XP hub is cast steel not aluminum like the 800 ones are everything seems to be the same with the exception of the rotor. Ive got a rotor coming tomorrow and if this works it will cost less than $100 per side to switch to what I would guess be as strong as billet hubs.

Other than significantly increasing the un-sprung weight of the suspension, this looks like it could be a good mod for those who are having hub problems. Interesting.........Polaris must have decided that the XP's had so much more torque/power that the aluminum hubs couldn't handle it.

Cheers

What kind of riding were you doing when they broke, im just curious becouse i have a 12 s le and have had no problems mainly rock crawling and some fast trail blazing in the east, and my buddy has a 11 s le with 2000 miles and has yet to brake a hub, we have had the common wheel bearing change every 500 miles and a arm bushings, but now you have me wondering if i need to upgrade this sooner than later now,

Thanks

Thanks for the tip.
I think either way i will be swaping in some XP hubs on mine...i cant believe that Polaris even used cast aluminum for hubs...how stupid. Ive never had an ATV with aluminum hubs....(imo) they should always be made of steel.
Thanks again!

The 800 4 seater does not have steel rear hubs, it has the same aluminum rear hubs as the 800 S. The 900 4 seater does have the steel hubs but they will not fit the 800 S. I wish they would! But the fronts will work just have to use the 4 seat rotor, rotor bolts and wheel studs.

The 900 or 900 4 seater rear hubs will not fit any 800. For the front to use the 900 hubs you'll need the hub, rotor, wheel studs and the countersunk rotor bolts.

So what is the fix for the rear or is it not as much of a problem. I have only broken fronts. I was looking at the parts I have on the shelf and it appears that the area where they break is even thinner on the back. Heavier bearing with a smaller ID making the hub smaller to suit and the shaft is the same diameter front and back that goes through the hubs. If I recall the back hub was aluminum as well? I have not had what I would call huge issues with hub breakage. Might have to throw a couple spares into inventory. Just bought a stock one for the front but my rotors are wearing so when I replace them I will do the 900 swap.

Only fix for the rear is to buy billet hubs. Rather pricey. But I have only known of a few broken rear hubs personally. And all of those occured from a pretty major side or end over end flip. The fronts on the other hand take alot more abuse, I personally broke an oem aluminum front by hitting a tree trying to go thru a tight spot on the trail at speed. Just barely caught the tree with the passenger side front tire, but it was enough to yank the steering wheel out of my hand and break the hub where it goes thru the bearing. Replaced it with a new oem aluminum and have put 800 or so miles on it, hit a few trees also, I havnt broken another yet.
