08 800 50"
was going to put rear wheel spacers on tonight
after jacking the rear end up noticed the right rear wheel was sloppy
pulled wheel, brake caliper off removed castle nut and pulled hub
the portion that goes into the bearing was snapped clean off the rest of the hub
obviously need to replace this and will put new bearings in

anyone have an idea what would cause this kind of failure

left side is still intact should i replace this one while its down cant see any cracks.

any other suggestions for things to check while I have it torn down
have a big ride coming up in two weeks and dont want any more issues

cheers:pint:

cpt, the 08's have a smaller spleen where the shaft mates with the hub body and fail where you noted. Now I need to preface this with the front hubs, where mine broke.
If I were you I would do a part # comparison between say an 08 vrs 10 to see if they upgraded. If the 08 comes with a bearing, that means that they did upgrade the parts. If they did, I would order two sets to strengthen your other side,

something tells me they will have them .. i sometimes think they build these "weak" parts to guarantee parts sales

only thing that worries me is this happened after I put in a lift to get some clearance wondering if the different geometry could have made it snap

spare partsbox for rides just keeps growing

I replaced mine with a new factory hub. I replaced both rear bearings with Timken Bearings. Thinking the bearing play that they always had even when new led to the hub failure. After replacing with the Timkens the wheel has no wiggle . Only time will tell.

On my 11s I broke about 4 stock hubs fronts and rears. Got tired of fixing them and my rides being cut short so I went with the UTV billet hubs. No more problems.
Stock ones are weak and if you ride hard at all you will break them, also putting on wheel spacers will put more leverage on them and they will break a whole lot easier.
