Hi all,

I am need of getting my 2009 RZR-S 800 engine rebuilt. Lately more and more shops do not work on the 800s around me. I live in North County San Diego (San Marcos/Escondido area) so the closer the better. I have a lot mods so this is not a stock setup that most Polaris dealers will work on.

Thanks!

K&T turbo, lower compression Wiseco turbo pistons, Dynatech ECU, Pure Logic fuel controller, aftermarket exhaust, K&N CAI, and much more. I am the second owner so I don't have all the details.

Where is Benchmark Performance?

Got in touch with Benchmark. Add them to the list of shops that do not want to work on the 800s. The owner John is willing to rebuild the engine for me if I can get it to him, but doesn't want to mess with a complete job. This RZR has been super reliable for me up until this last run, but seeing how things are with getting work done on it I think it is time for me to sell this thing and move up to something newer.

Hi Pohoda... just had our engine done.

If going local, I called all the shops in San Diego. Seems like a lot of the independents that do the repairs used to work at benchmark at some point in their career. All the local shops are going to run 3200 to 4000 to rebuild an 800 motor. Only place that was willing to give me a firm estimate with parts and labor in writing was SD Powehouse off old hwy 80 in el cajon/lakeside. They are who we were going to go with if we went local.

Called SD powerhouse, cool guys who were straight up honest and gave written quote and built Morgans 1x winning racebikes.
Called Duncan, they knew their stuff but were too expensive for our needs, however Loren said he would have personally built it
Called Alba, they couldn't touch it for a long time. Other shops claimed they were outsourcing their builds. Alba claims they arent.
Called Benchmark, they were super cool about it but it was hard to get a price range solidified.
Called Ivan Stewart, they said just get a Rev6 reman... it's cheaper and quicker. Appreciated their honesty. They offered to install it.

For some reason I forgot to call Marc at M&M as he does almost everything else we can't do ourselves and has more than fair labor pricing and quality work from our experience.

Regardless, it's a lot of cash/credit to put up for a UTV worth 6-9k. Wanted to have a warranty beyond none, 30 days, 45 days, 60 days or 90 days as the local shops would do. Had one person we knew from the local racing series have Rev6 motor put in his Xp1k and has zero issues. We took a gamble and so far am very pleased with the turn around time and quality of engine we received in return.

Ended up going with Rev6 in Utah. Mailed them our motor. Got a 2yr no fault warranty. That was the selling point. Motor is in and runs great if ya want to see their work. Tell Mike Team Pistelak sent ya.
