The better half and I have talked about locations out west to move once the kids finally go the hell away and Arizona is one that we want to look at. She has MS so she prefers warmer weather more consistently compared to out seasons here in Indiana. Moms in FL but we dont like the humidity like she has. Besides, Arizona gets me a few hrs closer to MOAB! Lol

Of course you can always settle in SW Utah and have the best of all 3 seasons and some of the most awesome riding in the west.

Or just over the border in Nevada and not pay state income tax.

there are areas in the NW valley that you can ride from your house to trails and some only a short distance away if you have a trailer

That's what we was going to do after the kids was out. But now we have grand-kids and now I can't get the wife to move. (truth being told I would miss them)

Yes it does. We winter in Wellton and ride from Ajo to the narrows in Ca and from the "fence" in the south to Bouse in the north and hope to make Parker next winter.

We leave the Foothills and do the plane crashes and the mines and the fence, then come around up through Wellton and back through Ligurta. I haven't been north of Martinez yet but maybe this winter! Haven't been west to far yet either but hope to soon.

Re: Where would you choose to live in Arizona?

We’ve been looking for cpl days now at different places. The issue is she has MS so the indiana weather eats her up. Plus shes naturally cold. Me, i dont care but as I told her (ik “yeah right he told his ol lady...lol) ive been to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other places and Im sure as hell not living in places w avg 100* days in the summer. As she so nicely said, “but you dont understand, its a dry heat” ugh bout lost it. Said yeah a bonfire is dry heat but im not sticking my ass in one of those. And what do you think Kuwait and Iraq is? Damn dry.
So, been trying to find somewhere that maybe we luck out w avg high summer is 90 and winter is 40ish? I know nights would be colder but gotta narrow it down somehow. Looked at flagtown (flagstaff) and damn house prices are qtr mil. Plus Im not a fan of large cities. Id rather be 2bd 2ba 1500 sq ft on maybe 2 acres and not in a damn cookie cutter subdivision. HOA trying to tell me what I can and cant do now. Dont pay dues and do as I please “when you may my house payment or property tax, then get with me”
Also looked at utah and arizona. Arizona seems to pop up a bit for places to retire because of not taxing retirement pays but damn it seems hot all over.
We are still 10yrs out from this but rather get started now w at least a state and city to kinda narrow things down, then go from there. If we dont start now, soon 10 yrs will be gone and goin “now what”

Hey I feel the same way, but as some who spent 3 years in HS in IN, I would rather have the heat that whatever it is they have there. LOL

But a friend who lived in Phoenix for several years explained it, in the east you spend 2-3 months indoors in the winter, out here you spend 2-3 months indoors in the summer. But when you do go out, it is still nice a pretty and you don't come back in snow and salt all over you.

Makes sense. We are actually headed to Sedona next month for our anniversary. While I like Sedona, I would not want to live there as it is too much yoga pants and designer dogs for me. We also thought about Flagstaff, but there is really nothing there. Are going to look in Cottonwood this trip just to see how different it is from Sedona.
