12v air compressor

What is a good brand of 12v air compressors? Which one have you used?

Looking for something with a tank on it so we can mount it in the toy hauler.

Thanks

Stew

Viair is what I would consider the best. All the Jeep guys swear by it. It's what I would use and I have used my buddies that he had mounted under the hood when we aired back up.

They offer on demand or you can add tanks to your system. Completely customizable.

Re: 12v air compressor

Ok great. I did look at them. They seemed expensive because I don't know what I'm looking at really.

So they are good. Hmmm

Thanks

Re: 12v air compressor

Yeah they are, but it should be the last one you have to buy. If you are airing up big tires, get the higher cfm (I think that's what it's called) pump.

Re: 12v air compressor

It's just for light duty rzr tires or airbags on the truck. Maybe a air blowing tool etc.

12v air compressor

Here is what I would buy. 100% duty cycle (that's what you want).

http://mobile.viaircorp.com/#2892

If link isn't working, it's under Constant Duty one under their OBA (Onboard Air) kits.

Re: 12v air compressor

Holy crap that's nice. They don't show prices for a good reason I'm guessing.

Re: 12v air compressor

Here is what AIAIR sent me just now.

So your setup will require a max of 33” tires. For that kind of setup, I’d suggest going with at least the Heavy Duty OBA (VIAIR Corporation - Heavy Duty Onboard Air System (P/N 10005)). If you want a step up from that, you can get the Super Duty OBA (VIAIR Corporation - Super Duty Onboard Air System (P/N 10008)), that fills up the tank a little faster and comes with 2 compressors.

You mentioned you possibly wanted to use an air blower tool, did you mean a hose with a blow gun, or an actual air tool such as an impact wrench? If you want to use air tools, you’ll need a kit with high CFM (cubic feet per minute). The highest we make is 4.55CFM with the Dual 400 OBA (VIAIR Corporation - Dual 400C Onboard Air System (P/N 20015)).

You can purchase these kits through several online retailers (which most offer free shipping) such as AutoAnything.com, Power Equipment Direct, Amazon, Jegs, Summit Racing.

Re: 12v air compressor

Just get one with 100% duty and you'll be fine unless you rarely use it a few times every other month. I think constant duty setup is base I would go with.

Re: 12v air compressor

Yes. You're right.

So what is a 25% duty cycle? What does that mean?

Re: 12v air compressor

In a nutshell if I understand correctly. You can run it for say 5 min and need to cool for 15. I just know you want a true 100% duty so you don't have to worry about it.

Re: 12v air compressor

That's how I took to understanding it also. That or I thought it would cycle by itself. So it didn't overheat.
