Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

I'm trying to figure out where I can get the shim/ washer that goes behind the primary at the case. I let my dad put it on a customer's RZR figuring he could just replace it, but it doesn't even show on a parts fisch. Any ideas? It goes right behind primary on shaft before the case.

Re: Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

Call hunterworks as they have a few options on shim thicknesses.

Mark the center of the primary doing the sharpie test and do test runs as it should not bottom out the belt.

The shim can be added or removed without removing the primary of the car, But you do have to remove the cover that will slide over the bolt.

No it is actually behind the drive clutch. It's not the shims for the drive clutch, I'm not sure if it just spaces the primary away from the case or it is for alignment. Thanks though.

Re: Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

I maybe wrong ...but I really dont think there could be a shim needed behind the primary . It is on a tapered shaft and a shim would have no function ..I would confirm with Tod at Hunterworks as mentioned in a earlier post...

Re: Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

The male taper on the crank end is mated to your female part of your primary-
It makes zero sense that someone would want that bottoming out before the taper was fully seated.
There are spacers for the secondary ( after the secondary is removed)- but that is for alignment to match the center of the primary,but.. your should use the offset tool for correct alignment. CTC

Your belt should show signs of witness marks of how far off a person is- inward or outward alignment is.. hence the spacer washers behind the secondary.

Re: Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't have any shims behind my secondary. I think you only need to shim it if the alignment is off, so I would check that first.

Re: Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

you wont see them on a parts fische. the dealer has to look deep into his fische to find them. there is a part number for them but unfortunately i dont know it off hand.

there are two thicknesses of splined shims i believe a .040" and a .060" these are used to correct belt alignment from the factory at assembly. these come on the machine if it needed it at assembly. some come with them, some do not. there is not a certain year or model that did get them, its case by case basis as each machines engine and trans is assembled and clutches are installed. if you got one on yours, you are likely going to continue to need it. dont give it away!

Re: Washer/ shim behind primary clutch

Search for a 2016 turbo and you'll see it in the fiche. I ordered from a '16 fiche for my 17 XPT4.

Got it today and mics out to the same as the other. Thanks for the help. Polaris needs to change the diagram cause it looks like it's a spider bolt washer.
