Boondockers turbo upgrade

Anyone have any input or experience with this bolt on turbo upgrade? It looks to be about $2,100 and includes new turbo, turbo manifold, clutch, head gasket, and dynojet tuner. It says it comes with 3 tunes. Stock +5hp, dominator +35 hp, and max at +50hp @ 100 oct. Says 187hp on pump dominator tune and 208 on 100oct. Iím curious if thatís whp or crank.

Seems like you make the same numbers with just a stage 2 tune (2016 xpt BMP tune)

Re: Boondockers turbo upgrade

The boondocker #'s are at the wheels not at the crank so it should be quite a gain over a tuned xpt.

208 at the crank sounds pretty good for 2100

Re: Boondockers turbo upgrade

Following, I have this Turbo on my car but I'll hold off before giving any of my thoughts....

Regarding their Advertised HP numbers, they are claiming those are WHP NOT Crank... BUT, dyno numbers are no good if you don't know what the actual Delta is and able to compare what that specific dyno shows for a stock car.

Now, on their specific Dyno a 2017 XPT makes If i remember correctly 159whp (right wrong or indifferent that's what it reads) so when a claimed 187whp is an actual gain/delta of 28whp and so on for the other tunes.

Also, regarding the OP's comment about the Head gasket.. The kit does not come with a head gasket, it comes with an exhaust manifold gasket.

Haha ya your right, Manifold gasket, I looked quickly, figured it was head gasket for more boost. Funny how much dynos differ. BMP gets 110whp out of a 16 turbo and 127whp out of a 17 xpt

It's all in their calibrations and dyno types, my local dyno here in AZ (KMS Performance) shows about 122-125whp on a 17xpt so that's about right in line with BMP and pretty close to a true 25-27% drive train loss that is right in line with what it should be.

Re: Boondockers turbo upgrade

They just released these kits so it may be a little bit before we see real world numbers. I have a couple buddies installing them on 17xpt's but we're into the cold and rain season here so they probably wont see any action until this spring. For the price this does seem like a hell of a deal. Others big turbo kits (not a upgraded stock turbo) are in the 4-5k range.

Are your buddies using the BD tunes that came with the kit or custom Dyno tunes?

Re: Boondockers turbo upgrade

16 won’t show the gains of a 17. 17 has bigger injectors.
