I do not know why they made the change.

The boots are "inside" the bells on either end of the driveshaft. Actually I think they are molded in the bell itself and then strapped to the shaft.

Re: One piece driveshaft

To the best of my knowledge the change was made from 1 piece to the 2 piece design because of issues with the single shaft vibrating at about 55-60 mph. Once they are out of that harmonic resonance speed the vibration goes away. Most of these shafts run good and are still in service. However, please send me a PM if anyone has a problem with their shafts. RCV is a reputable company will stand behind any problems. Thank you for your patience and I regret any problems anyone has with their RCV shafts. I am here to help.

Sent you a pm on this. I finally had a chance to take my machine out a few weeks ago and it vibrates horribly starting at 50mph. Way worse than the factory unit did. I definitely would not recommend going with the one piece shaft if you dune or do anything else where your constantly at high speeds! Hopefully Rcv can do something to fix this!

Re: One piece driveshaft

Well shucky darn. I have only had the XP out once since installing the shaft, and I didnít get much high speed in at all. Hopefully it will cool down here shortly so I can test.

Re: One piece driveshaft

When you rebuild the cvs, do you have to remove the driveshaft to do it or can you service them while mounted? Iíve been debating between rcv and Sandcraft for a little now and been leaning towards rcv as I love the idea of plunging cvs to help eliminate vibration and shock on the diff. But if I have to remove the entire shaft evertime it needs to be serviced, that will drive me nuts as these arenít an easy install especially on the 4 seater like mine.

Iím looking to install and hopefully never remove again, so if the above is true with rcv, Iím buying Sandcraft.

Re: One piece driveshaft

In theory there is no need to ever remove the RCV shaft. As a practical matter, I suppose you would wear out the CV joints after some long time, but they are sealed and should last a very long time. But, if you need to work on the shaft, it would be much more difficult to try to do it on the machine. I removed mine and worked on it on the bench.

sending my one piece back to rcv soon, they're going to take a look at it and possibly swap it out for a 2 piece. I'll update once I find out! Thanks to Craig for the help on this!
