2017 xp or 2017 xpt

Buying a new rig sometime in the next month. Cant decide on xp or the turbo. I mainly trail ride, no dunes or mud. I like the upgrades on the turbo but not sure if its worth the extra $4500 for my riding situation. Im looking for opinions from peeps that have gone from a xp to a xpt. Thanks.

Re: 2017 xp or 2017 xpt

I had a 2014 xp1000 and thought it was even overkill for the trails, but when i bought my 2017 xpt its improved in every way especially the shocks/handing was way better than the old xp. The brakes are better and the clutch doesnt freewheel like my old xp used to down hills. The steering is tighter and you get a cool digital gauge that doesnt look like its from 1980, with all of the upgrades, 4 grand is a drop in the bucket.

Re: 2017 xp or 2017 xpt

One failure from the Europe area. I suspect poor fuel. I'm not aware of any engine failures. I'm running evo stage 2. Most guys are. I'd say that's a non issue.

I came from a 14 900xp. 88hp. To the 16 xpt. Night and day difference. Love my turbo!

Re: 2017 xp or 2017 xpt

I had a 17 xp1k and sold it to buy a xp4T and it was the best thing I did. Love the rig and it's fast as it gets stock. I have 32" tires and it's still fast as all get out

Re: 2017 xp or 2017 xpt

I have both a 15 four seater and 17 turbo 4 seater. Yes the turbo rocks over the non turbo. But with the 15 reflashed with exhaust and a clutch kit it runs really smooth.

Re: 2017 xp or 2017 xpt

I also came from a 900S to an XPT. I read every 'is it worth it' and 'do I need it' thread on this entire forum I think. Here's what you'll find:

1. 90% of the people who DIDN'T buy an XPT will tell you that they/you don't need it, overkill, will never use all the power.
2. 10% Will say they now wish they had a turbo.
3. I have yet to see ANYONE go from an XPT down to a 1k, 900S, etc.
4. The 90% of people in #1 have no idea wtf they're talking about

It's worth it everyday and twice on Sunday. You CAN use that power. It's not a massive turbo, spool time is short, and just jabbing the throttle rolling out of corners is so much more impressive. The suspension itself would be worth it. The upgrades in the driveline would be worth it, etc. Together it's an awesome machine.

The Turbo is worth every cent. You will never be able to upgrade everything they did to the Turbo to a stock XP 1000.

If you are considering it, yes it is.
But with a good set up and good driving they all perform well.
