It’s hard to tell how extreme the grooving is with that angle in the pic, but at about the same hours my xpt had the same groves in the bottom. It will happen from a lot of idling, which I do when I warm up and especially when I cool the Turbo down after a ride. Unless it’s pretty deep I wouldn’t worry about it...of course, that’s a fairly subjective term.

its feels pretty bad.. i can feel the belt ribs in the grooves. the frog skin assembly was loose and not sealed so tons of dirt and mud was getting. so i think that may be the main reason why.

Re: new machine primary problems!?

When you submerge your belt box with water and mud, be prepared for the cost it takes to fix it. From the looks of your pictures, you did some heavy mud riding. IMO, a Turbo S is not designed for that style of riding.

well thats the thing I didnt swap or submerge my belt box. In western pa the trails we ride have mud, alot of it isnt avoidable but nothing super deep, ive tried to ride the sides and stay out of it the best i could have. nothing has been more than half tire. so im pretty sure it my filter was was tighten properly it would have never been like that.

Re: new machine primary problems!?

The covers just don't seal that well anyway. Could it be possible the mud under the cover is from simply washing it? The new turbo gearing is higher and seems to be abusive on the drives running low and slow. Many are doing a gear reduction (low range minimum) to help out. We do offer a prefilter kit which eliminates the covers. We use dry element high flow filters and nylon wraps to repel water. Also check out our CVT "Blaster" to help with excess belt temps....
Regards,

Mark

Re: new machine primary problems!?

Quit working on it and just take it to the dealer. Grooves in the primary is normal. Shouldn’t be too deep or be able to see where the ribs of the belt are hitting. Your clutches might not be aligned or torqued properly

Primary issues are a real issue with the 19 model xpt and turbo s. I have first hand seen 2 in the past month from some friends units. One a 19 turbo s velocity with 13 miles and the other a 19 xpt2 with 30 miles. Both did the same thing. Primary clutch cover spider bearing failed. It the broke the plastic sliders in the primary on both machines. It also tossed that bearing around the case and beat up about everything. Both slipped the belt from day one. Both machines got taken care of under warranty and everything was replaced I will add. My advice is push your dealership to replace everything because it seems they updated something with the primary
