Primary Clutch Bushing on 19 Turbo S (2 Seat)

45 miles on machine and my primary Clutch Bushing (located around the center clutch nut) came off, ruined clutch cover, mangled the belt.

Anyone else experience this?

Here we go again with warranty!!

Re: Primary Clutch Bushing on 19 Turbo S (2 Seat)

Just purchased a 2019 Turbo S velocity on 6/15/2019 and had the same issues within 3 miles of the very first ride. Dealer has had the machine for the last 3 days and still haven't heard from them on what they are going to be doing about it.

What did your dealer and Polaris do to resolve the issue?

Primary Clutch Bushing (located around the center clutch nut)

Is this a piece of the One Way Bearing? The roller bearing on the primary shaft between the clutch sheaves?

Or is this a piece of the bushing that goes in the primary clutch spider cover?

I finally got ahold of the dealer and Polaris knows about the issue and is just fixing the issue as it arises. Polaris is replacing both clutches, cover, seal, and the belt. I'm going to try to work them out of an extended warranty in case this happens again.

Option to a whole new primary. If the primary itself was not damaged.

Re: Primary Clutch Bushing on 19 Turbo S (2 Seat)

I have a 2018 XPT and when it only had a few hundred miles on it I installed the AA clutch kit. When I did this I noticed that the bushing / race inside the primary clutch cover was starting to work its way out about 1/3rd of the way .. towards the clutch cover. I carefully pressed it back in
The next time I opened and inspected it was coming out again. This time with the cover removed ...I heated the clutch cover evenly and carefully with a small torch and pressed it out about 75% of the way. I then added some green wicking grade bearing retainer like Loctite .. and while it was still warm pressed it back in carefully . ....make sure you dont go to far you dont want it to protrude out the back at all. When it is seated correctly it will protrude a little out the front flush or slightly recessed in the back. Since then I have about 800 miles on it and it has stayed in place it has not moved at all.

What about primary balance now that the parameters of the assembly have been changed?

I maybe wrong but I always understood that the sheaves could be balanced together as a assembly ... but not the rest of the bolt on parts of the primary ....if they were then where do they remove weight ?

I don't think the primary balance from the factory ...if any ....would be that good ...that is more custom like Adam at Airdam or others ..Pol wouldn't spend that kind of time or money in production ...IMO

Sorry, just seeing this.....I called in a case # to Polaris, worked my way up the chain and got very persistent with them. Polaris sent (overnight) a brand new clutch assembly (to include cover, belt, and hardware) to my dealership. I believe I could have kept driving it since the purpose of the bushing is to balance the clutch as it gyrates in and out but due to the fact I opened a case # at Polaris they said I had to stop riding it and I didn't want to lose the warranty.

In the end it cost me time and aggravation but calling in a case # and being aggressive helped move it along. No issues on the 400+ miles since the fix.

Bad batch of bushings is my guess so it will be hit or miss for anyone else. I am curious why a recall/service bulletin hasn't come out on this issue.

Saga continues........

I found the same thing on my 2018 XPT/S. I also still have very low miles on mine and the bushing was starting to work it's way out.
