Does anyone know if 2012 900xp length shocks will bolt up to a 2018 1000xp?

If not, where can I find info on lengths and compatability? Not very easily found anywhere.

Found a great deal locally on a set of stage 4 Elkas but they are for a 2012 900xp and I have an 18 1000xp.

Re: Elka

I don't know the exact numbers, but I've owned an xp 900 and an XPT (which is the same platform as an xp 1000), and i can tell you they are way too short, and wouldn't be valved or sprung properly, and even if you got them to bolt up, they'd greatly limit the wheel travel. The new XP platform uses a much larger, longer, shock with entirely different internals & springs.

Re: Elka

Get some shock therapy work done to your stock XP1K shocks (springs and/or valving), its a night and day difference in every good way

I’ve had my eye on that setup for a while now. Just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Want to do the full kit with valving, as I hear this is the best results.

Re: Elka

I only have the springs ( for now ) and I can tell you they're worth every penny, and doing the springs first, then valving, will let you give a good comparison of the differences. They do offer a forum discount as well

How much height did you gain? I just did 32’s on 15” wheel and really not trying to go any higher as I do a lot of slow technical stuff and want to keep my center of gravity down as much as possible.

Re: Elka

Go with the eibach spring kit I have both shock therapy and the eibach rides much better and you keep factory ride height

Re: Elka

The preload is always adjustable, I actually added 1" of preload over what ST says to set it at, but you could just as easily take an 1" out. I love a low CG, but i have a 4 seat, so I like a little more clearance on the rocks, and even with the added preload it still rides like a dream, and it's not overly high to the point where off camber or uneven surfaces make it feel sketchy or tippy. Don't go wild with preload adjustment, the shock likes to be near the middle of the stroke at ride height, but you do have some adjustment while still keeping it nice

But to directly answer your question, i think the ST recommended settings are about 1" higher than stock, and don't be scared when you set it on the ground and it looks like a monster truck lol, when the springs settle, it comes down nice.

Walker Evans sway bar links are amazing as well, I have them on all 4 corners

On 32's i think i currently have 18" at the center front skid plate and 17" at the rear
