I just brought my 2018 XP4 Turbo Fox home from Shock Therapy last night and tonight after work I will take it for my first spin. I have them do the re-valving and the spring kit and they suggest to me that I have the sway bar kit installed also. After spending over $1600 to have what I had done I really didn't want to spend anymore. So the big question, is it something I should buy or am I going to be OK with out it. I do a lot of riding in the dunes and the desert. Also, do I need to buy the whole kit or can I just buy the solid sway bar?
Can't wait to get home tonight and ride.
Congrats man. You must be very excited. I remember when I brought my first one home on Valentine’s Day...
I have the Gold level kit from ST and considered the sway bar as well. I decided to buy it later and see how it felt first without it. After riding it for awhile now I would only recommend the sway bar if you do a substantial amount of high speed riding. With 30s and the spring kit I find it hard to not over correct and keep vehicle straight when doing 65+MPH. However, I almost never get out of low gear so this is not an issue for me.
you will definitely need to run a sway bar with ST set up,, weather or not you need their stiffer bar is up to you,, Drive it and see how it feels, it will have way more body roll than it did with the stock set up,,
Well I got it off the trailer and took it for a spin. What a difference it made to the ride. Hard to describe all the changes it made but the wide is more plush. As far as the sway bar I am on the edge, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. It did feel different if you took the steering wheel and just rocked it back and forth. Could I live with it? Yes. I was thinking a head to the dunes in the fall and I push it hard there and I don't want an uneasy feeling doing it. So I highly recommend getting it done if you can afford it.
I had the same (stage 4 springs/re-valve) done on my XP4 and run the stock rear sway bar. I'll be at the dunes for the first time with this new set up for Thanksgiving so I'll decide after that if I really need an aftermarket sway bar.
