Particle separator?

Is anyone running one? If so what do you think? Worth it?

Re: Particle separator?

Best insurance policy to help prevent dusting your engine $399 can buy. Not to mention cleaner oil, cleaner air filters, reduced maintenance cost, Etc.

Re: Particle separator?

IMO, Yes.
I've been running one on my 900s for a few thousand miles now, and it works.

Usa Re: Particle separator?

I just recently installed mine been out once, 3 days of NM High Desert (powdery dust and sand) riding and the air box looks like I just cleaned it. I even put a very lite layer of oil in the air box as a test, and its clean as a whistle. I just wish my Toy Hauler faired as well dust and sand everywhere 3 hours of cleaning. I did have some problems with location due to a Tusk Spare Tire Carrier, I had to mount it behind the drivers seat on the lower bar. I highly recommend them.

Re: Particle separator?

Excellent, thanks for the information! I have an S&B Intake on my F250 Diesel pickup. I am very pleased with the Ford intake and will look into the RZR intake.

Re: Particle separator?

The S&B Particle Separators work great in the dry dusty condition we see here in southern Arizona.

Re: Particle separator?

Pays for itself in the money you save not replacing air filters as often.

Plus it adds a cool factor in looks as well as function.

Totally worth it.

Re: Particle separator?

Does it restrict any air flow ? Do you notice the noise ? I ride mostly the desert southwest

It improves airflow, since it separates the heavy dust/ particles from getting to your air filter in the first place - technically your air filter is not getting clogged up (restricting air flow and HP). It's basically like riding with an unclogged air filter ALL the time, unrestricted by dust or debris. (Granted you do have to change the air filter out occasionally anyway but only about once a year depending on your environment)

If you're able to mount the unit over the roof or higher up where heavy airflow is present (aka not blocked by the windshield) it'll act not only as a snorkel and a particle separator - but also as a RAM Air intake.

The noise the scavenger fan makes is unnoticed while the engine is on and running. If the fan is on and the motor is off - its about as loud as a dust buster handheld vacuum cleaner.

Doesn't bother me or my passengers at all.
