Re: New toy

First question, where/how are you riding? I'm on my 2nd RZR and have not needed a skid plate on either one. I did put A-arm guards on the front suspension, and you can put skid plates (UHMW please not aluminum, it screeches) on the trailing arms or buy high clearance ones. Depending on where you ride, high clearance radius rods for the rear suspension are very good. High clearance front A-arms are available too, but cost more. Depends on whether you want to slide over an obstacle or miss it entirely, and your wallet. Look at the ZBroz Racing site. Aftermarket ATV Parts, Aftermarket Snowmobile Parts

SOLD!!! 2012 RZR 570, with most of the accessories.

Re: New toy

Factory UTV 3/8" Skid Plate here. Love it. On the protection topic... I'd invest in harnesses & cage before I'd spend a penny on a skid plate.. Just my own 2 cents.

I went back and forth for a long time. Do I need a cage, if I do how much do I spend... and so and on.

In the end I determined that yes, the stock cage would protect me if I rolled.. if I rolled end over end a few times... would it? Maybe... but still just didnt trust it.. Especially since my kids would be with me some times.

I went with Toys For Big Boys and couldn't be happier. Basically talked to Kevin and designed it over the phone. Picked it up a few weeks later. Lot less than I thought it would be.

To each their own. Do your own research though. PLENTY of people run a stock cage. Don't feel you have to just because I said so. But harnesses... yeah, thats a day one kind of thing. Same with getting rid of the square pucks in your clutch. Look at hunterworks. I didn't drive our rzr until I have harnesses and round pucks.

LOL Actually round rollers to replace the square pucks, depending on your particular secondary clutch.
