Stock rzr upshift too fast?

Ive got a friends rzr 2018 that almost seems like it upshifts too fast? It will peak at 7500 and hold and then slowly climb to 8200 untill the limiter. Just feels slow to me but this is all seat of the pants. Im about as far from a clutch expert as you can get but it just seems like the clutches fully shift out too fast. Any thoughts? Compression came in good, fuel psi good, valves are good, etc. its all stock

Re: Stock rzr upshift too fast?

If the entire machine is bone stock then he has a low power issue causing this

By limiter assuming you mean speed at 78-80 not the rev at 8700 because you said 8200 is top

The stock clutching is not bad in a 18 so this is just low and low cause of low power

If you were to put a kit in to raise shift phase rpm you will be bandaging the real issue.

Cant seem to find anything wrong, yet. Id like to check the cam timing apparently the motor was spun backwards at one point removing the belt. Would jumping a tooth cause a low power? It seems to run just fine, just kinda slow.

Just checked compression

208 psi pto
210 psi mag

58 psi fuel

New air filter

Valves are spec on

Plugs look great

The only single thing I could find wrong was the belt has a radius cut out on bottom corner so we put in todds white washer as well as rollers. Still the same thing. Bottom end feels strong but shift out occurs at around 7500. Every video I watch of STOCK xp 1000’s hit 8300-8500 pretty fast and then carry out to top speed. Could a belt cause this?? When we drag race i pull 2.5-3 cars on him easily so something isnt right.

Also the primary spring is black with red stripe. Is it possibly the wrong one from factory?

Re: Stock rzr upshift too fast?

I assume by the compression numbers that this is a 2018 XP 1000 ...not turbo correct?

Re: Stock rzr upshift too fast?

yes altitude and maybe a few more details would help ...like how long does it take to get to 7900 rpm and what speed ...what speed are you at when rpm hits 8200? and such
All the stock machines I have tested seem to peak out at 7700 - 8000 in the first 3 seconds and then the rpm falls back 2 or 3 hundred rpm ....after shift out

Around 2300 ft. I’ll see if I can get a video, that would probably help more.
