New 2019 XP1K check engine light+EPS light+speedo not working?!

As the title says I have a new XP1K with 16 hours on it thus far. I brought it through the woods no problem down to a swimming hole and when I went to leave I put it in high thinking it would be fine going up a hill because the main logging road was just on the top of the hill and the bike crapped on me. It was like I lost all power for a second. Then I put it in low and tried and it did the same thing. Left it off for a few minutes at the top of the hill and put it back in high and it took off no problems at all and within 5 minutes of driving down the road above 4K rpm or so, the lights cleared themselves and I had no further issues?! I’m super confused and just wondering what could have caused this. I read on this site people had mentioned speed sensors but mine wasn’t wet or anything nor did I submerge the bike in mud or water on my drive to the swimming hole.

Forgot to mention, half way up the hill is when the bike crapped on me and the lights came on. Speedo also didn’t work until the lights went away

I can tell you I got distracted and forgot to tighten the negative battery cable. Friggin thing went nuts occasionally that was pretty similar. Plus its a free easy check. If not let the dealer handle it

Did it throw any error codes when it did it?

I shut off the engine and started it back up before I even thought of retrieving codes. Anyway, I went along and put dielectric grease on every plug I could possibly get my hands onto and especially around the speed sensor and voltage regulator plugs and haven’t had an issue on my last rides out. Knock on wood, I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt me

UPDATE:

Took my bike back to the same place that it originally happened. Had been running beautifully for the last 4 hours. I parked and turned the bike off to go for a swim and when I turned it back on and headed up the hill (this time in low) I noticed my speedo wasn’t working and then bam, limp mode and the same two lights.... thought I was out of the jungle with this one. Got the code 84 2 and 520275 31. Not sure about the second one but I believe the first code is the speed sensor. Not sure where to go from here 😕

Got 84/2 and 520275/31. Dealer claims I hit the foot brake and gas at the same time and it caused the faults. I have a hard time believing that especially since I drive with one foot.

For the love of God stop calling it a bike! Itís got 4 wheels and a steering wheel!

Sounds like youíre slipping the belt. That can throw engine misfire codes and such.

Pretty piss poor design if slipping a belt once makes your SIDE BY SIDE go into limp mode lol. I felt no slippage of the belt either when the problem occurred. I was on the throttle going up a hill in low..

Re: New 2019 XP1K check engine light+EPS light+speedo not working?!

code 84 / 2 is Vehicle speed sensor ..Data erratic , Intermittent, or incorrect
Code 520275 / 31 is ..Accelerator position / Brake position interaction

So you have already checked the speed sensor ..but make sure it has the tab on the sensor that holds the plug in tight ......I had one break off and the plug would not stay fully connected
....so maybe check the ...
throttle pedal free play and TPS
Brake pedal free play
jack up the car and make sure you dont have a brake dragging
if you have an emergency brake make sure it is releasing all the way not dragging the brakes ...I had this one happen to me once

I assume you have already checked the belt / replaced it?

My money is on the switch or wiring on the master cylinder. Maybe when you are going up that particular hill something is causing the switch to close. Or maybe you are hitting the brakes harder than normal in that area before the hill and the master cylinder isn't retracting fast enough or is getting hung up? This usually happens on older bikes though...couldn't resist lol
