BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

Just saw a sale on at 4WheelParts.com for tires. I've been debating between these 2 tires and am interested in opinions - particularly if you have tried both!

Size would be 32x10x14 and the terrain is semi-desert trail riding. Lots of high speed ripping through dry dusty wooded trails with sharp rocks hiding everywhere to tear your sidewalls.

The Tensors would be about 2lbs heavier per tire and $250cnd more for the set.

Which would be more durable? Which would have better traction? Which would wear better?

Thanks for your input!

I'll also throw in that I am running the 5+2 method 401 beadlocks as well in case there is any sort of mounting issues to consider as well.

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

I have never run the BFG's but they make a fantastic tires. I have run the Tensor and absolutely love them. I had 30x10x14 now have 32x10x14 Tensor's. They do every thing I ask then to do. Work great rock crawling. Do OK in sand. I'm not a mud rider so I don't know how they do there. I really like the 10" foot print the tire has. Helps in every thing I use the tire for. Another huge plus for me is the tire is great on the street. They wear forever.

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

I'm at the same cross road! I can't decide either! The Tensors measure an inch (in general) smaller in diameter than stated diameter. The Tensor is a little heavier and is radial in design. The BFG's run true with size, but are not DOT rated. I need a quieter tire than my Dirt Commanders, they suck on hard surfaces and like to wander at high speeds. I read a lot of good things on the Tensors, but don't much info on the BFG's. Please help us if you run BFG's! Looking at 28X10X14's on STI HD7 rims with 4+3 offset. Thanks guys!

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

I have the Tensors and when they are done, I am going BFG. I run Desert and Mountains and when it rains or snows, the Tensors are useless slicks. They hold on to the mud and caliche like you wouldn't believe while my friends and their Mongrels (I will not use them ever again due to my own reasons) were just pulling their RZR along, my turbo was sinking in and almost stuck. I use BFG KAO2s on my Tundra and will likely switch the Tensors next year and keep them as backups.

My Tensors are on Method 405's, 15x30 configuration.

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

Well I had been hoping for a little more feedback before pulling the trigger but I'm guessing the KM3's might be a little too new for people to have much experience with them, so I just pulled the trigger on the BFG's.

I didn't want to miss out on the sale pricing by waiting too long for feedback. I think with BFG's track record I'm not taking too large of a risk here. Hopefully they live up to my expectations!

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

I popped on the BFG's. will let you know how they do! Have to be a hell of a lot better than the Dirt Commanoisy's that are on it now. They suck!

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

Tensors are good for dessert ....but suck in the sick stuff the BFG tires are MUCH better in a variety of terrain...If you are looking for a tire that has all the qualities of the Tensor but works better in light mud and snow....then go with the BFG

BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

Been running the kr2 that has the same tread with less side wall. Itís the kr2 downfall as you need to run 20psi to get around pinching the softer side wall. The km3 is a great alternative upgrade.
It has been a great all around tire from hard packed to mud. It does well in sand but does chatter at low sleeps in the soft stuff.
Looking for reviews as the bfgís have been great and the km3 would be my next tire once the kr2 wear out. And they are wearing better then expected.

Re: BFG KM3 Vs Tensor Regulator

I have a 2015 Rzr 1K. I have 13K miles on it and 11.5K miles with the Tensor 30x14x10. I ride in desert, rocks, sand, snow and mud and have never had an issue with traction or the Tensorís.
Iím in Silverton, CO right now in lots of mud and snow. My friends all run Tensor. Looks like a number here at the RV park do to.

I doubt you can go wrong with either tire.

Itís like Chevy and Fordís. You might like one over the other, but they both get you where youíre going.

But lets not forget that Chevy trucks are the longest lasting truck. Because they are built LIKE A ROCK. LOL. Sorry, just had to.
