'16 XP 1000 o2 Sensor, replace or delete along with cat?

My used 2016 xp1000 w/ride command has an o2 code (P0030 / 520209) when I bought it but didn't have a clue until after I got her home. It doesn't seem to be in any "limp mode" that others mention so I haven't addressed the issue yet. My research shows here that most just replace the $120 oxygen sensor and move on. But I'm wondering what kills them at such a tender age?

Is it possible that the catalytic converter retains too much heat, thus causing premature wear on the sensor? I've read also that the sensor's connection may be bad but I've checked that and it seems fine. Anyway, I was debating pending further research whether or not to hollow out my cat and while I was at it I had considered getting that Bikeman's Performance 02 delete meant for aftermarket exhaust. I'll be keeping the stock exhaust, and especially keeping the spark arrestor.

I wanted to get some of everyone's thoughts who may have experience with this because after reading multiple threads on the subjects I can't seem to make up my mind which road to travel. Thanks in advance, guys and gals.

Re: '16 XP 1000 o2 Sensor, replace or delete along with cat?

We have someone else that did the O2 delete but we haven't figured too much out yet lol
His mileage dropped quite a bit
https://www.rzrforums.net/rzr-xp-tur...-thoughts.html
As Rzrjoe stated if someone ran avgas it could damage the sensor as well as the cat.
I have pictures how much a cat retains the heat.
I gutted my cat but I'm not going to tell you to do it.

185EZ, I've been keeping tabs on your cat delete, so much so that I pm'ed you asking about it but I think your pm box is full as you didn't get back to me. I'll have to read that thread you linked...

Bought from an old man and for all I know he may have run 85 octane but did say he used 91...

In my research it seemed like o2 sensor failures came up often, but considering the amount of members here, it's probably just a drop in a bucket.

Cat delete isn't difficult. Main thing is to have a welder or mark where you cut and take it to someone

So EZ, you thinking the best I should do is replace the o2 sensor and also delete the cat? I think that's the route I'll end up travelling. Yes, I can weld it up with my Hobart MVP210.

Re: '16 XP 1000 o2 Sensor, replace or delete along with cat?

Me? I would try the O2 delete before spending $120
RZR o2 Sensor Blockoff Kit

If you want to do an ecu flash I believe Aftermarket Assasins has the delete in their tune
I just did the Dynojet tune but it doesn't delete the O2

As far as the cat I would delete that on any ride i had.
I think intoxicated had a meltdown with his muffler
I won't actually "tell" someone to do it though if you know what i mean.

Re: '16 XP 1000 o2 Sensor, replace or delete along with cat?

Yeah, I've studied up on the cat delete so I know how to go about doing it. Thanks, EZ....wink, wink.

So you're with me in trying the o2 delete? I probably won't flash ecm anytime soon as the bikeman has a resistor so it tricks the ecm, yes? So that other thread where guy who did the o2 delete claiming to get worse milage, a fluke on his part you think?

Ya we don't know what the other guy did with the delete
Limited info to go on so far

Re: '16 XP 1000 o2 Sensor, replace or delete along with cat?

I think I'll call Bikeman tomorrow and pose some queries, that is, unless someone can furnish me with a value resistor to wire into the factory harness. Then I'll just leave the bad o2 sensor in....

ETA: No, I didn't mean for the to read as though I was gonna ask BM to give me values and not buy from them...

I just bought my 16 xp about a month and a half ago. When i got it home the engine light came on as soon as i unloaded it. It had the o2 code in it. I changed the sensor and its been good since. The o2 delete us just a resistor. The o2 helps with fuel correction.

A resistor wired in is not going to fool the ECM. You will probably set more codes than you can shake a stick at.

So then the bikeman delete would only be good in conjunction with an ecm tune then? That's what I was afraid of and sort of a reason I posed this to you all.
