Hope it works out for you. I called Outerwears and asked them about sandwiching the material between the two aluminum frames and they suggested that I use a soldering iron to melt the outerwears material where the screws were placed to hold everything together. They said that once it was melted it would never pull apart or shread and so far they have been correct. Mine has held up very nice through this past summer.

Why not add a snorkle to the intake tube in the upper box and add a round K&N to the engine intake.
The engine and clutch will not be fighting for air.
They are now and an added filter will choke it even more.
Separate the 2.
Mine works great.
I have not bought a stock filter in over 3 years.
Only an occasional hazing of dust that gets through the K&N.
Simple and cheap.

I, also, use a sheet of Outerwears material in my "Grumpy Mod". I bought a sheet straight from Outerwears, I think 24" x 24". My son-in-law made me an aluminum grill and I attach the Outerwears to the grill w/ two sided tape. I "back it up" w/ a piece of open cell foam to keep it tight and so it will not "flap". You can see all the pix on another thread "Intake Mod, Grumpy Style" on this forum. I can't remember if I started it in General Discussion or 800 S Discussion.

Thanks. I will have to have a look at the plastic when I can get out for my next ride. The size of the air intake opening from Polaris is just about 8.5 square inches. The UTV grill has almost 12 square inches of opening. I try to keep the Outerwears material clean by washing it after every ride.

Thought I would throw this out there....

I didn't like how much dirt was in my filter even after one ride. Decided that the intake area behind the seats is very clean, not much dust in the cab at all. So....where is the dirt coming from? Well I think it must be being pulled from under the bed.

I decided to try this little mod. My thinking is if it had more area to pull air from behind the seats it will be less likely for the dirt to sneak in from under the bed. Not to mention more air for the engine AND the clutch.

I was thinking to just drill some holes or use that pre-filter thing with the big hole but I know I would accidentally fill the thing with water when I wash the car. I like the stock set-up I just think it needed a little help.

I used pieces of 1x wood as spacers and with heat from my heat gun did this, it opened it up quite a bit, will see next ride how it does.

I cut a square hole and use a square briggs and stratton air filter from lowes with some foil tape. Works great!
