I recently found myself with a broken reverse chain and now trying to get the transmission out to repair. Does anyone have any tips on removing? Unlike the XPs there is a bar keeping it from coming out the side. Watched many videos on the XP removal but there is not much info on the S models. Dropping it out of the bottom looks like a possibility but it'll be a tight squeeze.
Just did mine a few weeks ago. It doesn't seem like it but it will come out the side. Iirc once everything is disconnected, including the turf mode solenoid it will tip out top first to the driver's side. It goes back in much easier than it comes out
Was able to get it out by flipping the transmission right over left out to the driver side. Took a little time to move it bit by bit but it came out with out having to loosen the front engine mounts.
Ended up chipping a tooth off on snorkel gear as well as the reverse chain. Replaced snorkel gear and upgrade the reverse chain to Super ATVs double reverse chain. Everything is back together and no problems/noises so far.
Thanks
