Looking at a 2015, RZR 900S

I currently have a 800 RZR, base model that I purchased last year. Iím thinking of selling it, and know of a 900S, with very low hours on the clock that is available. I have done some work on mine, pinion nut replacement, new front sway bar, etc. can anyone tell me what I would gain, other than more power? I know that I will gain a little ground clearance, but is the suspension any better? There are a lot of wash board trails where I drive, and I was wondering if the 900s would ride better.

What are the problems on the 900s? Iíve read about a fuel pump issue, and injector problems. Are both of these common on the 900s?

For one thing your 800 is a 50-inch machine and the S900 is a 60-inch so better suspension there. I have about 2,500 miles on my 2015 S900 with no problems whatsoever so far. Stock S900 shocks are much better than the stock 800 shocks.

I’m very happy with my 2015 900s. Only things that have broke were my fault.

Re: Looking at a 2015, RZR 900S

They made a few changes from 2015 to 2016. I'd go with a 2016 or newer if you can find one priced right. Prices vary greatly depending on where you live. My buddy just bought a 2017 900S with EPS with 236 miles on it yesterday for $10,500. That is a good deal where we live, but maybe not so much elsewhere. I'd personally would get one with EPS.
I also went from a 800 to a 900S. The power, comfort, and convenience of the way the 900S is built vs. the 800 is unreal. My 800 had Elka shocks on it, so I did not notice a big difference in the ride. The 900S obviously sits higher. You won't be unhappy with the upgrade to a 900S. Obviously a 1000XP is the best trail machine, but sounds like your not riding a lot of wooded trails in NM.

Your friend got a good deal! I really am looking forward to an upgrade, but I have to sell mine first. However, that doesnít stop me from looking. There are not any other 900ís in my immediate area that are for sale, so I have a limited choice.

I agree on him getting a pretty good deal. He found this on on Craighslist and it was not listed as a 900S, just a 900, or it may have sold quicker.

On top of the cost we all toss on about $1000 worth of accessories!

Good luck in your search.

The stock secondary on the 2015s are known to go bad. Mine and a friends both grenaded at about 1500 miles. Easy fix though. Other then that the 2015 is a great machine

Please elaborate. What secondary are you referring?

The secondary clutch. I think they redesigned it after 2015 but the original was junk. Real easy to replace. I replaced mine with a tas-03 from hunterworks. What's nice about this clutch is you can dial it in to your riding style and set up. I added a non engine braking helix to mine and love it.

Re: Looking at a 2015, RZR 900S

Even if you get a '16 or newer you should replace the square pucks in the secondary with the round ones from Hunterworks. Todd at Hunterworks is the go to guy for clutch, secondary, and belt things. Check out his video's and website. Lots of good info on there.
The secondary is under the same cover as the belt and clutch behind the drivers side rear wheel. It's pretty easy to take off. Replacing the pucks isn't super hard, but it takes some mechanical ability and some good tools. Plus a spring compressor unless you have one or something close.

Re: Looking at a 2015, RZR 900S

Well I have mine up for sale at a really good price for the buyer, and not so great for me. Iím will to take a hit to buy the S900 that I look at the other day. It is in almost showroom condition, with some really good accessories. Man I want that machine!

The haunting problem is that there is supposedly someone coming to buy it Thursday, from out of town. The seller is a real honest guy so I donít think that he was trying to pressure me into buying it now. He has a 1000xp that heís planning on racing. This one was his wifeís machine (60 yr old), and she hardly ever drove it.

For some reason used side x sides are not selling very good right now. I had mine listed for a good price, and nothing. I even drop it another $500, and still nothing. Any lower and I will be almost giving it away. As much as I really like the S900, I just canít justify loosing that much money on my RZR. There is NOTHING wrong with mine, I just would like a larger machine.
