Re: Trans and Diff Fluids

Except for engine oil/coolant, I've been using Polaris fluids on everything for almost 10 years on my 800, and almost 3 years on my S1000. Except for the first time, I only change them annually after that.

Really depends on the year, and what's going on. We have to travel from Vegas to ride anywhere. The S1K gets 1000-2000 miles a year because it's a better winter dune machine. The 800 is 500-1000 as it doesn't get used as much in the winter.

Only run OEM fluid in the front diff. A lot of failures are caused by improper fluid in the diff. Look up DC Motorsports, he has a great video about running non OEM fluid in the front diff.

The problems are caused by people running too heavy of an oil. John Deere's J20-C transmission-hydraulic oil is the spec--the same thing that goes into my 4WD diffs on my tractors that have electric engagement-disengagement. Been running it since the 25-hour service with over 2000 miles.

This is like purchasing marine lower unit oil. No spec on the side of the can, just the oil weight but I assure you the oil is HL4 or HL5.

Re: Trans and Diff Fluids

I’m using Polaris OEM front and rear... I ran my 1KS for 20 hours, replaced oil/trans/demand. Went to H&M, put another 375 miles on, came home and replaced trans and demand, will give the oil a bit more. You can save a few bucks on these oils but I’m not sold on any real benefit to using anything else right now. For the record, after the 375 mile H&M trip, I also had an extremely dirty R2C air filter and all four corners got grease and inspection. Also ordered full Shock Therapy spring kit...was not happy with the stock ride no matter how much I fiddled with the clickers (installing that now). Sorry for straying off the primary topic but sounds like you machine is as fresh as mine... enjoy and be safe.

Re: Trans and Diff Fluids

Factory stuff is great. I've been using Amsoil with good results, literally looks new when I drain it.

Whatever you use, change often and you'll be a lot better off for the effort. I'd rather drain oil that looks new than to drain out sludge.

Re: Trans and Diff Fluids

I'll leave my fluid opinions aside for now...but I did just find this on ebay... $10/qt with free shipping...

Ebay- Demand Drive Fluid

They want $22/qt at my local dealer lol

EDIT - They removed the free shipping in the last 20 minutes it seems.... they must've got mad when I ordered 6 qts lol.
