2018 RZR 1000S grease Zerks

I just purchased a new 2018 1000S and have been putting the accessories on to it as they arrive. Last night I noticed that there are no grease zerks anymore. Has Polaris found a way to maintain lubrication on the pivot points without grease?? What do you all think of this? Should I install zerks while the machine is supported up for a skid plate install?

The only zerks I have on my 17 are on the sway bars and the 2 on the driveshaft.

I greased our 2015 900S and our 2016 1000S before every ride. The bushings in the 900S were junk and they wore quickly even though I was greasing it religiously (30-100 miles). The 1000S must have better bushings as well as a slightly different setup in the rear as they stood up much better with 4 times the miles over our 900S.

Our new 2018 XPT has only 5 grease zerks (sway bars and one on the driveline under the shifter). It is still tight after 1100 miles. So they must have improved the bushing compound for them to last this long without greasing.

That being said I would still prefer being able to grease everything that moves as it takes so little effort to service the suspension with a little grease. Greasing it before (or after) every ride also gives you the opportunity to give your RZR a pre-ride inspection. I grease the sway bars before every ride now as they can make a horrible squeak on every bump if the bushings are not lubricated often enough. Drove me crazy when it started squeaking when I left the grease gun at home one weekend.

Re: 2018 RZR 1000S grease Zerks

2017 and newer bushings are a sealed unit now. They are much better. No grease to attract dirt and mud. I wouldn't install zerks. If you look at high end aftermarket bushings like garage products bushings they are designed the same way with an oring inside the bushing that seals the dirt from the outside from getting into your pivot bushing. The new polaris bushings kind of do the same thing. They are much better you should get a lot of life out of the newer design. If i had my choice to have zerks on the bushings or not i would not want zerks. The grease attracts the mud and dirt and works its way into the bushing because greaseable bushings are open to the outside unlike the sealed units. I faithfully greased my 570 bushings every trip and still after 700 or so miles they were all shot.
